Picked up the tank to start with always liked shallow reef look downs and though the distortion can be weird I liked round tanks.

Very nice ! I was friends with the guy who started Eco reef in Zealand way back when. The most impressive tank was his round tank !! If I was ever to do another tank it would be a round one. Following around this one ! Lol how many gallons is it? And where did you find one !

Very cool tank. What are your stocking plans and what type of gear will you be running?

Just ordered, the RODI unit, SWC skimmer, Arag-Alive sand. I have my live rock that was dry at the LFS now seeding with good bacteria. The Cree LEDs are on there way for DIY build, using a custom driver that I built.

I will be building the stand and sump this weekend. Should be seeing some progress pics shortly.

I hope to avoid cycle time as I have always in the past by using good live rock and some matured water and sand.

This will be using LED's for lighting, simple sump with fuge and SWC skimmer. really would like to put an oceans motions on the return, but this has to be a budget build as $$ is way tighter than in the past. This is also the reason I am going with efficiency in mind with a total goal of max power consumption with the lights on to be 240w. (except for the needed chiller in summer)

Stock list will be a schooling group of chromis, a very small sailfin tang size of a quarter, will move him on once he grows. Some sort of goby maybe a yashi pair.

Corals, well it will be mostly SPS, I really want to enjoy the look down view when turning off the pumps.

Gonna try to get this settled by the time of the swap to pick up some, yes I know most will dictate the tank needs maturing etc etc for 7 month to a year before SPS, but well i'll go with this isn't my first rodeo an I know a couple tricks lol

I just set up a 60 cube. Used mature live rock in tank and sump. Used micro bacter every day. The only hint of a cycle was a very small amount of algae that a couple snails cleaned it up in no time. First corals in were sps. Getting great growth already. Watching parameters closely. 20 gallons of water ready to go just in case. Oh, by the way first coral went in in one week after 6 chromis. Never had any ammonia, nitrte, or phos. Tank has been up for 6 weeks now and doing great down to 3 chromis, getting ready to put by black percs in today along with 3 new chalice frags.

And thinking I should have stayed out, lost all but 2 of the SPS corals. I know what caused it, sure am missing larger water volumes about now.

Re-scapped the tank yesterday, pics to follow. Have some small algae issues after my latest opps and cycle also some diatoms. Pics to follow soon. Also plan on cutting out one of my return pipes to open up a valley view of the aquascape.

Welcome back stranger! :oldman: CR just isn't the same without one of its' old timers!

Thanks tried to catch up with you at the lansing swap, but you were swamped everytime I was around your table. Perhaps see ya at Ann Arbor.

You should do the retuns in clear PVC

Algae would quickly build inside them under the lights. I am removing the front return though as it will improve the aqua scape look of the new design.

Small hair algae problem as expected from the die off I had, anyhow here is the new scape and removed front return.

The clean up crew has been doing its job well, 60% of the hair algae is now gone, a couple more weeks and I should be all set.

Some of the SPS are regaining some of there color. Also starting to see some color in a couple Aussie brownout frags. Will be interesting to see how they shape up.
