Has anyone ever had this happen to their xenia? The top of one of the many stalks is turning yellow. It looks like something killed it. On close inspection is almost seems like it's melting away in just this one spot. All of the other xenia is fine, including the rest of the stalk this is on. All water tests are fine and I haven't added anything to the tank except my Achilles tang.

nobody? hmmm it was progressing so I cut the affected "head" off. Hopefully that will stop it. All of the other xenia seems to be fine. Maybe I will post this in one of the specialty forums on Reef Central.
If you have any ideas please let me know.
Thanks, Angie

Hi Angie! A melt-a-way is a possiblilty, but I've seen our melt away so much that I think I can say that it's not that. Did you do any aptaisia or majano lately that you had to kill off? It looks like what happens to a coral when you accidently get kalkwasser paste (or whatever method you use) on it while trying to nuke those darn things. I've accidently had small pieces drop onto coral, and it burns it good....pretty completely actually. If the tissue around it is affected in any way, it may recover, but honestly I think you did the best thing possible! Cutting it off IMO was a good decision. If its something else, you may have saved it from a total die off. From the pic though, the Xenia looks pretty darn good. Crossing my fingers for you! Take Care! .....Angel :angel07:
ps. In looking at the a bit closer, it almost looks like a sponge. Did you feel it?
