As if you hadn't noticed by now we have completely changed the board software!

Everything crititcal to the boards functions were imported over...the remaining portions will be brought over as time permits. Might be a little bumpy here and there, but all in the name of progress... holler if you run into any problems!

Lots of cool new stuff to play with and WAY faster!

I've discovered a few users didn't quite make it through the migration process, if you find your account is hosed up drop me a PM or hit the chatroom and we'll get it sorted out.

Are we going to have the scrolling "recently posted" deal at the top of the forum page? I alwasy liked that feature, becasue you could see instantly what messages where new. -Tyler

I liked the scrolling new posts as well. But kudos to Dakar and Reef Angel for the new desing...I really like it. Sorry I havent posted anything lateley, I've been getting used to the maried life.
Will the arcade be moving too? I hope so, otherwise I might actually have to work while I'm at work. lolol

I'm hoping to find something that will work with the new software.... they were actually part of the trouble for the board, poorly written... But of course I have backups of everything and will have them posted somewhere after a bit so the info is NOT lost (I've got close to 1000 records of my own in them. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

There is now a static listing of the 10 most recent posts on the main page.

It was broken, that's why he switched to new software.

I like it too. Here's a couple things that I've noticed. I couldn't log in this morning with my password, and I had to reset it to get in. No big deal on my part, don't know if anyone else is having any problems.

Second, all of my PM's are gone. I had a bunch of stuff saved in there. If you can recover them on the new board, could you dump that database to me for my PM's so I can get that info?

Third, see if you can tweak the posts per page so that a thread, this one for example, doesn't show as being multiple pages with only a few responses. Does that make sense?

Other than that, I like it. Some of the other forums (cars, computers, cameras, etc) that I go to use this forum software.

Yeah you need to click Quick Reply (next to Quote) on the post you want to reply to.

Matt, don't worry, as soon as everything is functioning and tweaked to the way it should be the cosmetic changes will begin happening, but you'll also have the ability to change the color scheme and stuff to suit your tastes as well. Very powerful software, and a lot faster than the old board, I think it will grow on everyone quickly.

Eric, your PM should have migrated over... possible they got hosed, but I'll get you a dump of them, and yes you should have Mod priv's in the Nano contest forum just as before. Board defaulted to 10 posts per page for the thread, bumped it up to 20 like it should be. (BTW you can set that number as a personal preference in your profile settings).

Jerry, that message is a little obscure if you look in the lower left side there is a Post Reply button (this is for the full page reply, on the right side are the Quote and Quick reply (the pen/paper looking icon), for the quick reply you have to chose wether or not to quote the post before you can type in the box... makes sense when you think about it, but a little less than obvious.

Here's the buttons I'm talking about.

Ok, I just checked my inbox and my PMs are there. Sorry, I should have looked before I said anything. I seem to remember that when nano-reef switched over software that a similar goofy thing happened with the private messages.

Just a reminder to everyone, go into the edit options area and tweak your settings. There's a lot of customization in there. You might need to turn on the email activation too. I'm not sure if that's on by default. It wasn't for me. :)

LOL, added that color scheme last night, just to see.... a little ummm not sure what it is... a little too much contrast? Either way I'll be adding some more here shortly.

But hey that's what the new board is all about, let's everyone customize everything to fit their likes/dislikes.... well that and speed.

Yes, the block for 'Who's in the ChatRoom' will be back on the front page shortly, as well as the new photo gallery.

This board is Nice, I think everyone just has to dive in and get their hands dirty poking around on here. Like Dave said this is good stuff and sooo many more options. I am really liking it and as each day goes on it gets better. It is soo much quicker. I think its just an acclimation process. but so far so good. nice job!!!

Greg, Very well said... I'm not a huge fan of change. Ever read "Who Moved My Cheese?" It is a total difference from our comfort zone. It's totally growing on me now, though. I like it and know that with Angel and Dakar in the lead, there's no time 'till it gets that special touch.

Not sure, may have gotten lost in the conversion process...it did pretty good considering the database was almost 100Megs!! But if you need some help recovering it I can pull a copy of it from a backup copy of the old board and add it to your profile for you.

Greg and Jason, all I can say is thanks... a few more functional things to iron out and then the
aesthetics will get tackled.

Maybe I'm missing it but is the photo gallery here yet? What about the image resizer? No hurry Dakar......I know you have a day job besides this board. ( and quite a commute to boot)You and Susan usually have your hands full. I was just wondering.

Both are in the works... the gallery will be using different software as well, so no easy way to import the pics :mad: But I will be turning the old site back on under another domain name for a bit so folks can grab their pix to re-post if they choose to.

The re-sizer is a complete rewrite... going to take a couple more days.

You need to set the timezone in your profile and all will be right, when everyone was transferred to the new software it figured it would put everyone into GMT.
