I am having problems keeping my PH above 8.0 I have added Seachem's Reef Buffer at least twice a week, at night it drops to 7.8 to7.9

Try dripping kalkwasser in your tank at night.I use kalk/limewater 24/7 and it works very well at maintaining PH/calc/alk IME

I put a gallon of kalkwasser a night in the tank with a drip doser. If I dump the kalkwasser right in the PH goes up but drops by morning. Every book iv'e read said you shouldn't raise the PH too quickly anyway.

Kalwasser shouled never be poured right in,this causes PH to rise too high and the alk/calc then start precipitating. Then your levels are lower than what they originally were. What size is your tank?IME,kalk/limewater alone is able to keep my parameters stable;PH levels(8.2night,8.4day),alk-9dKH,and calc-420ppm.If your adding kalk/lime daily and still having PH troubles, you might have a gas exchange problem, this can be fixed by adding airstones in your tank at night. will correct.

The tank is 155 gallons and I have a glass cover on it. Do you think that is a problem? If it is, how do I keep the fish from jumping out?

The glass cover stops the gas exchange and can have a dramatic effect on pH as CO2 builds up in the water column pH will drop. Use some eggcrate (aka light diffuser panel) if you are worried about critters jumping out.
