I recently put 4 peppermint shrimp into my 75. 1 week after when I checked the tank in the am. my white torch coral was down to bare skeleton. In just one night. The next night(after having tested every parameter possible) I used a red flashlight and found the peppermint shrimp feasting on what was left of the torch. I have been spending the last 3 days trying to capture them. I am now using a mantis trap that has caught every single Nassa snail in the tank. No shrimp in the trap. I was finally able to catch 2 of the more agressive shrimp in a clear glass with bait. Is this normal behavior for these shrimp? How can I get the last 2? The two that i did catch practically attacked my hand when I put it near there hole!

peppermint are opportunistic feeders, they are a gamble when introduced into the tank. they will literally rip the food from corals. sorry to hear about that. as for catching them i would just keep doing what your doing

something was probably something wrong with the torch it may have been sick. the peppermints are scavengers and will eat anything thats sick and/or dieing.. mine come out and jump on my hand and pick stuff off when i'm in there cleaning the tank. thats normal
