View Full Version : Flow & Plumbing The qestion you all hate
I have a 77 gal with live rock and a skimmer. I have a Fluval 404 that pushes 340gph. Now I know your all going to say that cannister filters are garbage for a reef tank LOL. But at least it helps with waterflow. I also have a Seio 640. Is it usefull to have anything in the cannister. Currently it has the foam block, Large media and carbon bags. Should I take everything out and put some LR rubble in there. Does anyone have any suggestion with what to do with my overgrown powerhead. Also dont worry I haven't killed anything yet I'm still cycling.
Thanks

Im sure Ive heard that the carbon becomes a nitrate factory (or holds it) and removes nutrients.

Id remove the foam block
don't no if its large enough to help putting rock in or not but wont hart

I agree, useing your canister filter as a carbon filter is a good idea.Just remember, use small amounts and change it frequently.
