Nice overflow. I have an external also. Great way to do it. Are you planning more then one divider? I know someone who also did a huge overflow like yours. After a year the weight of the water started to separate it from the back wall . Tenacore did skimp on the glue tho also. I installed three dividers to dispense the applied force from the water. Worked out well. Just food for thought . Looks great and awesome workmanship!

Ps. Sweet Star Wars poster.

Yes the overflow box is separated into two separate compartments. Going to do dual bean animal overflows. So there will be the bottom and three sides that will attach to the back of the aquarium. Hopefully that should all hold it together. Should be ok since acrylic once bonded becomes a solid piece. Thank you for the nice compliments, and ya i like the star wars poster lol

Nice ! Are some of those bulkheads emergency drains ? Comeing along nice. I used Staford dorso's (DIY) very quiet in the external drains. Likeing it very much. Great job. :oldman:

---------- Post added at 08:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:03 PM ----------

The bean animal has a primary drain which is submerged a seconday drain that uses an airline coming out of it for suction and a third drain for emergency. Im hoping that by running two 1.5" primary drains I will have enough there to hand the flow from the return pump.... roughly 5000 gph

Anyone know how large of a hole i would have to drill to create a siphon break in a 1.5" pipe? This is for my 1.5" seaswirls i dont want them to back siphon. Thank you

jimsflies
03-25-2013, 07:13 PM
Just a small hole will do the job. It only needs to get a little air in it to stop the siphon. You can always drill a hole larger if you find it doesn't work. I'd start with something around 3/16-inch.

I used a soft 3/8 OD tube and installed an air valve at the end of it so I could fine tune mine. Makes it very easy. :oldman:

Yep gives me 14" in the back to walk past (so i cant get any fatter then that lol) 24" on the sides from the wall and about 5' from the door. The tank is 5' tall so as long as your over 5' you can look down into the system :)
