OK, I'm crazy, but I bought a new/used tank off of RC last week. Just FOUR times bigger than my 65g. I leave to pick it up next weekend, I can't wait...
Here's the thread that got me...

Holy Christmas! I've seen your posts over on RC and I love the pictures that you have up. I didn't realize that it was you over there (different screen name on RC)

I love your tank, can't wait to see the new one!

I can't wait to see that Detec skimmer work. I never imagined owning one of those babies. And a Deltec calcium reactor and phosphate reactor. If I was to buy all of them new they would cost close to 2600 dollars alone. So I think it's a great deal. I just can't believe my wife said yes.

I got it home today after driving 1445 miles roundtrip this weekend. Then I went to bring it through the door and it wouldn't fit. So, thru the window it went. It took six of us to get it in. Some day it will see water again. I plan on cleaning it up a bit and installing a closed loop on it for more water movement . Lots of ideas right now, but it will be a long process.

Brad, that equipment looks like it has been kept very well... I'm sure that skimmer is gonna be amazing. Glad you all made it back safely. Good luck!!!

OK, Finally, after two months of buying new parts and equipment, haveing the tank buffed out and repowdercoating the steele frame on top of the tank. We have finally got her up and running!!!!!! I added another sequence dart pump for a closed loop and bought a Maristar 72 inch light fixture with three 250w halides and 4 39w T-5's. All systems go.. 160lbs of sand and 273 lbs of live rock. And the Deltec equipment is unbeleivable, the day after I added the rock I couldn't even see the rock, after one day with the skimmer running my water was crystal clear.

That looks really nice and I love the aquascaping! Is that how you are going to leave it (for now that is )?

tileman
06-15-2006, 05:51 PM
Yes, this is how I'm going to leave it for now. It's hard to tell from the pictures ,but there are a lot of tunnels and arches in the rock, so I'm leaving it this way.
The rock is starting to get covered with brown algea..YES!

Wow, I can't beleive it's October already. My tank is coming along great. I finally added some fish to it the first of September and last week I got a crosshatch trigger. What a fantastic fish. Haveing both of my tanks going is quite a challenge, but I love it.

Dood, I'm going to ditto that. It's awesome.

How much did it cost you to have it buffed?

tileman
10-14-2006, 05:34 PM
I had the tank buffed out and the Steele frame sand blasted and repowdercoated for 4 hundred. I wouldnt know wheather it was a good deal or not, but I am very satisfied with the outcome, so thats all that matters in my eyes. It sure is fun getting this tank filled with new frags. My other tank had coral stuffed to the brim and now I get to start all over again..

We have a 100 that we are hand buffing. It has been quite the pain to do. Was wondering if we should have gone the professional route..... not that we could ever get a hold of him when we were first thinking about it. I had no idea how much it would cost either.

Thank You, I just added a mated pair of Wattanabi angels yesterday, and a Sunburst anthias. I can't wait to get a photo of them, but right now they are still too shy to come out and play.

It's almost been a week now since the new additions to my tank. The angels are gorgeouse and doing very well. I think they eat more than all the rest.
Now I have to start catching my tangs and bring them down from my 65 to their new home.

what kind of Trigger is that ?? has to be in the Xanthichthys family, but is it a crosshatch trigger ??

tileman
11-01-2006, 07:02 PM
Yes, It's a female crosshatch trigger. About 5 inches long and very peaceful with the other fish. She hasn't bothered anything so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

they say she is one of the few "reef safe" triggers, but i know she costed a pretty penny !! seems like everything "reef safe" does. good luck with her and keep me posted on coral munching ... i have been thinking about getting one for a long time.
