Been running 2 on their wave maker for 11 months. One just started running backwards? What gives, anyone else experience this?

did some digging online and found a lot of people reporting the same problem. The answers varied but most people said that if it starts running backwards to remove the front part of the koralia and touch the impeller and this should stop it and come back rotating in the right direction. Others also said that there pumps would only run backwards while they were plugged into a wavemaker and as soon as they plugged them into a normal outlet they haven't had the problem since. Some people did mention getting a hold of their customer help line and said they got fast feed back and koralia sent them new parts for there pump to help with the issue. So, not an exact answer, but I hope one of these solutions proves useful to you and good luck. Let us know what happens and what you did to rectify the problem incase others run across the same issue.

I was told long ago that these pumps do this overtime in saltwater. Not sure why. I have a MP40 on one side of the tank and a Kor 1400 on the other side until I get a MP10 for that side. Mine does that every 3-6 months. I soak in Vinegar for about a hour, scrub and rinse with tooth brush and it is good to go for another 3-6 months. Mine is also on a wave maker 10 sec ON/OFF.

This is normal for the Korillia's and tunze uniball non controllable power heads. The Evo's have had this issue since day one. Cleaning and replacing the front bushings will reduce it from happening often but it will still happen. Unplugging it and replugging it in often corrects it. Also lengthening the cycle time helps. :oldman:

forget the evolutions and the wavemaker. they always broke on me, and yes I cleaned them all the time. IMO they were never built to handle the constant on/off. I was running 4 1400's on my wave make and it seems that every few months I was replacing one of them. the front grate would break entirely, causing the prop to spin backwards when the little rubber piece was no longer there.

I got a Jebao wp-40 now I really like but Ive only had it for a couple months ( or something like that). this one pump does way more that all for of the 1400s, and looks 10x better now that there are less cords and pumps. plus each evolution I bought was like $60+ and this pump came with a controller for $100 shipped.

im never buying a korailia again.

Hydor Evolutions are guaranteed in writing for two years. email customer support and they will send you new covers free of charge. I used two Evo 1400's on a RKL switching on and off every 30 seconds for well over two years and had something like 1.3 Million starts on them and they had the covvers replaced once in that time under warranty. Great powerheads for the money and well suited for controllers unlike most others. They have a new cover design that supposedly eliminates the rubber bump stop and breaking problem which has a little thicker plastic ribs.

I recently switched to Jebaos but have kept my Evos and have no problem recommending them to anyone.
