today after turning on the lights to my tank i was looking around and noticed a bunch of these little white mite looking things all over the glass. what are they, and should i be worried about them?
thanks

Could be pods which are good. Or could be flat worms which are bad. "mites" would make me think pods though. Can you get a picture?

Hi,
If they are like what I saw/see on my glass they are way too small to get a picture of them.

Sounds like pods dude, thats a good thing. Shows that your tank is doing good and maturing. Your fish will be stoked too...I hear from my clown fish that those pods are GOOD eatin'!

Agreed nice pics! And yes your mites are in fact pods...tastey treats for many fish and other critters.

Shows your tank is beginning to mature...

In the middle picture that is a bristle worm. They are scavergers which in my opinion are a good thing when they are small and few but can turn in a big problem if they get big (over 1.5") and there is a lot of them.

The bristle worms are actually good for your tank, eating detritus and stirring the upper layers of your sandbed and such. However they can get rather large.... Once they reach about 12" long they can get a little intimidating for some people..... My opinion... the bigger they are the more crud they'll consume... to a point anyhows.

Not sure just how big they *can* get... rumor has it someone grew one in captiveity to well over 4'... after pulling some 18" ones out of a 2 year old tank... I'd guess it's entirely possible. They do make a rather scary noise going through a Mag7 pump at 8" long and 3/8" around... made a mell of a hess.

i had a 12" one in one of my tanks, he was a pain to get out. i had to wait until i could see his head and butt to pull him out. guess what ?? he got me pretty good, i used DUCT tape to remove the bristles. it worked like a charm. that DUCT tape thing was just for future referance. happy hunting Adam !!
