well man, the lighting is a problem. it only has 1 powerglo strip light. a 350 gph power filter is hanging on the back. sorry i forgot to add this in the first post. but i think im gonna take it down today cuz i cant get a skimmer in it and have no room for a sump. which really sux cuz i like it sitting there.

What size of tank is it. I have had great success going skimmer-less on my Nano. I set it up like a lagoon with an open approach. Very little live rock, deep sand bed, and sea grass growing in the sand. I have 36 watts of pc light above a 6 gallon marineland nano tank. Corals include a very large colt coral (14" tall and looking for a new home), bubble coral, very mushrooms, and zo's. The only fish is a yellow watchmen goby. The filtration is an aqua-clear HOB. I use the sea grass as a way to export nutrients and feed sparingly (just one fish). Don't break it down just modify it. build your own skimmer out of PVC pipe, air stone, air pump and have it inside of the tank.

Try this website out for DIY pc lighting. They even give you directions on how to build the canopy.

It could be okay with out a protein skimmer if you are careful, you know don't over feed and do your water changes. I run my nano (5.5 gal) with a small external filter once i got the hair algea down it has been doing good
