Has anyone heard of peppermint shrimp eating at anenomes? I have had 2 die and while dying noticed that the sides had gaping holes with the "guts" hanging out. The only thing else in the tank is 2 cinnamon clowns which love my new anenome(and protect it ferociously) 2 little damsels, and now a samouri squirrel (who has eaten to of the peps:D ) I know that the peps eat some nuisence anenomes but what about host anenomes.

That's a hit and miss with the question and the shrimp. As many will testify here they have witnessed their shrimp rip food right out of their corals which will damage and possibly distroy the coral. I'm sure this would go for anemones too. Most anemones are protected by their sting but this doesn't seem to detour the shrimp. The clowns can help protect but again shrimp are tricky. Then again, my shrimp is totally harmless and hasn't bothered a thing in my tank. I've gotten lucky.

The thing is it can very well be your shrimp or it could just be something else happening. If there is nothing else off in the tank and everything else in the tank is thriving then I would tend to lean that way.

You may get more responses if you post how long your tank has been up. Your levels and any other general information. Lighting is important with anemones too. Tell us more and we may be able to help you out some.
