Join MMMC for a Frag Workshop on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 3:00 to 5:30 at Preuss Pets in Lansing, Michigan. We will have the club's frag saw at the meeting for everyone to try if they'd like. The club will be providing several large colonies to practice fragging.

Attendees with a paid MMMC membership will be able to take the frags home with them!

The meeting is open to non-members as well. We'd love to have you join our club. If you join MMMC at the meeting, you can also take some frags home!

Membership dues are $12 for a year. All club members dues for 2014 are due at this meeting. (Members also get free admission to our swap on 2/16 as part of the membership.)

Bring your colonies to the meeting and we will help you frag them as well!

Another major topic we will be discussing at this meeting is the Michigan Coral Expo & Swap (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/reefing-events/michigans-largest-coral-swap-feb-16-2014-lansing-michigan-02-16-2014-a-30010/) being held a couple weeks later on February 16, 2014. We need helpers to make sure the event runs smoothly. While we are cutting frags we will be addressing areas of need and asking that members sign up for specific jobs.

If we can't make the mtg but want to join- who do we get in touch with?

We are not going to be making the Reef Stew at this meeting, but may make a batch after the swap sometime. If you cannot make the meeting, but would like to join, you may certainly send me a PM here or email me @ JohnRScholten@comcast.net Our expectation is that our members will volunteer some time at the swap and still have plenty of time to do what they would like during the day. In return for the $12.00 annual fee our members have access to: The Club's Inland Saw, our Hanna phosphate instrument, our PAR instrument, reciprocity and free admission to all other club sponsored swaps, a bag of high quality reef stew each year and several nice coral frags. We also hold some events during the year other than the swap that vary from year to year.

In addition, after the recent ice storms and weather difficulties, our Board of Directors has decided to purchase a generator or two that will be available to our members during power outages and so on. We will be picking up the coral colonies for the fragging meeting Friday the 24th and will post some pics in this thread. I am looking forward to catching back up with all of you and meeting some new friends Sunday, January 26th (Plus you get to spend some time at Preuss!)

I've been contacted by several people interested in joining but cannot make the meeting. If you'd like to join, here is a button that you can use to become a member. I will work on a better system, but this should work for now. Be sure to include your contact info and forum username on the details in paypal so we know who you are.

The button will charge you $13...I'm passing the convenience of using paypal on to you. Their fee is roughly $1.00. :)

This button will automatically renew your membership annually until you cancel it in your Paypal account (enter your forum username so we know who you are with your payment):

Good Morning All!
Here are some pics of the corals we will be cutting and distributing to our members this afternoon:
A Beautiful Brain/Maze Coral (Platygyra):

A handsome Duncan Colony. Great frags, easy, fast growers, great beginner coral:

I had to take this last picture under a flash to show some of the colors. This is a real sharp Favia colony (like a Paradise favia) that will color up beautifully:

Drive Carefully to the meeting. I am looking forward to seeing everyone this afternoon!

Glad to see the auto-renew option Jim, although I didn't see an way to include a forum user name in the process.

Can't make it today, everyone have fun and be safe - it's looking nasty out there.

Yeah this weather is not cooperating!

For some reason, I thought there was a text area to add notes. I see there isn't now since I just went through the process myself to get my membership up to date. I change the button here to include a username so anyone using it in the future can include that info.

We'll contact those that paid and make sure our member list has all the contact details.

How often do you guys do these frag workshops and such at Preuss? My husband and I would love to attend one, I wish I would have seen this post sooner!

We usually only do the frag workshop once a year. But if there is enough interest we could do another (but would likely need to charge a small fee to cover the cost of the frags).

We will also have a reef food making workshop... I'm planning for that to be in March this year. Of course our February club event is the Michigan Coral Expo & Swap this coming weekend.

Sounds good, we plan on attending the swap in Lansing as well, if we would like an MMMC membership where do we sign up?
