thanks i dont know about stress coat product as a dechlorinator to be sure of safe levels being added I use a product called prime in all my tanks it not only nutrilizes chlorine but also chlorimine ammonia and nitrates in the water can safely be dosed at up to 5x recommended dosing for reducing ammonia or nitrate .

I also use prime and I have had pretty good luck with it so far... it really is a good product for an emergency spike ... because like it was already said it can be dosed up to 5x normal.

and 5 drgrees is quite a bit of fluctuation in your tank. my tank lowers about 2 degrees at night. when the lights come back on it reheats 2 degrees. by the way ... i use Prime too, it is all i use.

ihad a problem keping my 300 cool enough for my corals my temp was spiking to 89 degrees during the day i placed a fan behind my canopy that worked to keep my temp about 80.

First off a 5 degree shift in temperature can cause your coral to bleach or RTN and it really stress your fish and can cause them to break out with ich. Second, the dechlorinater should neutralize chloramine, chlorine can be neutralized just by letting the water set in the sun by a window. If the dechlorinater does not neutralize chloramine then what good is it, just buy a RO/DI system. It will pay for itself in no time.

I think 3 degress or less is ok.I do not use Prime but I know it is a Seachem product and I Use Seachem stuff in my tank so its got to be good too.
