I have had a lot of green algea growing lately and now I am noticing my mushroom coral which used to be thriving is shrivelling up. I bought some more hermit crabs to help with the algea, but so far it hasn't helped at all.
Anyone have thoughts of what is going on? Thanks in advance.

nothing really has changed except I had 2 protein skimmers before, and now only one is working. Nothing has died as far as I know, but I did have some red algea slime which I was told by my lfs to treat with a product called chemi clean. It did help with the slime. And I did do a 20% H2O change after as it says to do.

i have had this very same problem recently and i am also new to the hobby the mushroom is probably casting a layer of algae from its surface and wont look well during this i also experienced coral problems during treatment for red algae and i thought they where all dying but infact was just a reaction to the treatment my corals took 4 or 5 days to get over the stress of the chemicals but all of them are now fully back on track i did do a clean water dip with the worst looking one `s but i think patience may be an idea hope this helps i too was panicing but got great advice from some of the guys on here.
