Well I finally got the 75 friday and got it setup on the stand... But the weir overflow I received from a buddy at CR was to narrow to fit on the back. So an hour after having it home I broke out the copeing saw and trimmed some plastic off the back and now she fits like a glove. I'm hopeing to add LS LR within the next week, and thinking about adding water also

The buddy thought u had a 45 gallon not a 75 gallon .If u would have said that it was a 75 the buddy would have told u it would not fit and made u one that would have .

Ok so its been 5 months and i've laid pretty low around here but. I just got my IC 660 4x54 setup last night with six bulbs for 120 bucks. got my diy canopy built and am circulating water!!! Tank has already cycled... diatoms everything , all thats left is a final parameter check and i'll transfer everything from the 20 over to the 75 minus the sand! Thats right shes a BB tank!

What did you wind up doing for the sump? Last I remember you were not going to use the rubbermaid???

Ok so the lights i got work but the wiring isnt long enough to make it down to where i want to mount my ballast on the inside of my cabinet. So I'm off to home depot tomorrow (hope they have the wire i'm looking for). The other thing is the endcaps have threaded holes i'm guessing thats standard but i dont have standoffs, so i'm just gonna screw the endcaps to the inside of the canopy. Does anyone see a problem with doing this?

Must be the fact you are using MTX woofers clouding your judgement. hahah

yeah i need to sell that thing i dont have room in my new truck its been sitting around collecting dust for a year now. So i made it over to the LFS yesterday and they only had two sets of endcaps and standoffs so they had to order more, but i did bite the bullet and buy my bulbs wow those things are spendy. But I think I got just what i needed, they are all giesman bulbs, 1 superatinic, 1daytimeactinic,1aquablue,1 50/50. my biggest problem is i cant find 18 gauge solid core wire rated for 600v. But i might be able to make it work without adding any length. The other problem is it sounds like a damn. waterfall in my apartment followed by someone "flushing the toilet" every two seconds. This weir is noisy and the water splashing into the sump from the skimmer output is driving me guano crazy, any suggestions?

You can get by with using 14-2 Romex (standard household wiring for smaller 10A type circuits) for your lamps. It'll be a bit heavier and bulkier, but definately easy to find and well within the rated specs. Just be certain of good solder joints and you'll be good to go. I use that or 12 gauge wire for all of my halides, depends on what I have in the scrap bin at the time.

sounds like you need a standpipe on the overflow... this one by Renee should do the trick but it will be MUCH smaller for an overflow box, and you probably won't be able to use the 90 degree turndown (due to lack of room in the box). mine was made from 2 lengths of PVC, a PVC T, and a PVC cap with a 1/8" hole drilled in the top.

to stop the sump noise, you can turn the outlet DOWN toward the bottom with a 90 degree elbow or you can add a LARGE diameter piece of PVC (3-4") just under the outlet. the water will also have to fill this up (releasing the bubbles at the top), and overflow this on all sides making it MUCH quieter.

Ok so thanks to bobby and seahorse's DIY thread i slapped a durso standpipe on my weir box and that baby is super quiet now! I also split my return line into two outputs hopeing to slow the mag7 down a little bit, but it didnt work so now i gotta go back to HD (which is really starting to get anouying!) get another T and some Couplers and get the diverter goin. (sorry dont know why the pics are so big)
