I bought this clam about 3 months ago, had lovely colour although he was small.
Is doing well, growing and displaying well
I dont know what he is ?
Can anyone give it a name, or tell me any special care it may need. how big it grows etc ?
Thanks

It looks like my Tridacna Crocea. Maybe Tom@HaslettMI can tell you.

The shape of the shell looks more like a T. maxima me. Can you get a pic of the inhalant siphon (the slit opening)?

Thanks, He was only very small when got it and it has grown so much. You can see a whole extra row of shell and its only been 3 months. He looked lost in the tank to start with but you can actually notice him now lol

Tridacna Maxea?

Certainly a possibility. Considering the mantel pattern and shape look a lot like a crocea and the shell like a maxima. I have no experience with the hybrid Tridacna clams (other than seeing some pics online) so I can't be sure. One thing to note is my Bing search did not return any images of blue maxea hybrids. Yeah, if anything it has to be a crocea in the end, ive never seen a maxima with a mantle like that. I have seen a couple of crocea with a similar shell structure but not quite that extensive which is why i came up with thinking of the maxea.

Thanks everyone for your help. Much appreciated. It's growing and showing great colour so I will just keep doing what I am doing. Lol
