Here are some thoughts to occupy your mind the next time you are waging war on Cyanobacteria in your tank, your opponent has existed for about 3.5 billion years (no typo there, also remember the earth is estimated to only be around 4 billion years old itself), and was pretty much responsible for the beginning of all other life forms as they exist(ed) on this planet (maybe others?).

So the next time you are combating what we generally deem as a pest, take a break between the scraping, scooping, suctioning, vacuuming, cussing, and fussing and pay a small token of homage to your foe, for without it, we would not exist.

Should you be really bored and want to find out your maximum capacity for cyano knowledge capacity before your brain explodes take a look at the Cyanobacterial Research Site (http://www-cyanosite.bio.purdue.edu/index.html)at Purdue University. Thousands of references, hundreds of pictures and videos, even recipes to start your own cultures (though I think we've discovered southdown to be a major component in the culturing process), huge taxonomy and more.

And to answer the question brewing in your mind.... Yes, I was bored out of my skull waiting for an application to compile today.

Yep....that's what I've found to. It sure teaches you exactly what your tank needs, that's for sure. Our tanks keep us honest! lol

Leave it to this crew to take something as serious as the 3.5 billion year evolution of bacteria and it's colonization to form and populate the atmosphere with oxygen and nitrogen for the rest of life to have a suitable habitiat to foster..... and it's turned to Repto's distant relatives ............

Now for punishment go read that whole site! AND I want pictures of your coconut exploding from input overload.
