water problem

i have some white film on the survace of my water in my tank what do i do? i have a 55g about 50lbs of LR and 4 fish ..

The white film is most likely proteins, they tend to collect at the waters surface, hence the reason overflows and skimmers should be designed to collect water from the surface of the tank (surface skimming, Perpetual came up with a great DIY using a little whisprer filter and a powerhead that's posted in the DIY forum).

You can manually remove a lot of it with paper towels if surface skimming is not an option. Simply drop a sheet of paper towel as flat as possible on the water surface and quickly grab it up and out of the tank, and repeat as needed.
