DOHHHH.....I feel dumb....

well I'll start by saying I'm glad I found out now rather than later....

last night I turned off the pumps in my 100gal tank while I was doing some work (the chiller is still not finished and with the hood off, there are no fans to cool the water.....no fans + hot pumps = hot water)....

well since I couldn't put the hood back on last night, I figured "ehhh.....if I leave the pumps off over night nothing will go wrong......"

wow....was I ever wrong.......woke up this morning (~10hours later) to find all the damsels (which fortunately the only fish in the tank) either gasping at the top or dead on the bottom......

so I guess this shows how important water flow is......ups (uninterupted power supply) will be the next plan.....

I have been guilty of almost the same thing... sometimes I feed my tank late at night, and with it being only 10g any flow at all blows the food off the corals, so I turn off the powerhead and the hob filter while everyone eats. Several times, I have gotten tired and gone to bed, forgetting to turn the equipment back on! So far, everything has been fine... the xenia would be rather droopy in the morning, but that was it. I see now that I should consider myself very lucky.

Sorry you lost your fish... that stinks. :(

thats not good... i know it sounds mean but at least you got this nasty lesson out of the way before you had a fully stalked tank... i'm sorry about your fish but it could have been much worse!
