I started to Make a bio sand filter a few years back,I had it about 80% done then decided to go with Bio Pellets. Bad idea to be honest. So now with the new tank going better then expected I need to do something about all the 2 part we are doaseing. I have come to the conclusion that adding that much of anything is not good for a reef tank! So considering that both 2 part and Ca reactors both have good benefits why not just use a little of both ! Here is a picture of what I am starting with. Tried to give this thing away but am glad no one grabbed it. This will save me hundreds of dollars !

First thing to do is make a media plate that will hold 50#'s of ARM course media yet allow plenty of water thru the reactor. This is what I came up with.

I bought a Milwaukee regulator and selanoid valve and have a pinpoint probe and probe adapter coming from premium so we will update this as the mail man delivers the new toys !

That's going to be a big Ca reactor! How tall is it?
I think you'll really enjoy having a reactor, and wont miss all of the hassle of dosing.
I'm looking forward to seeing how you convert this. Oh, the attachment in your second post didn't work.

So I opened up the regulator box to look at the new toy. Looks nice and it comes very highly recommended . I noticed the bubble counter has no oil in it. Anyone know what oil or fluid is used in it ??

The base is 6" tall x 18" long x18" wide and the chamber is 5 1/2" inside diameter X 48" tall. I am guessing it will hold 50 lbs of media. I am planning to use a 20# tank

Yeah, it originally was going to be a sand filter tho. That was a few years ago. It will need some tweaks but should save me a ton. Reactors without tanks and regs are crazy. So far I have about 400 into this build. Total cost will be around 475-500. That's less then a tiny GEO. Lol and I shouldn't need to add media for years.
How ya like the logo?? Rofl
