I finally have lighting over my new 20g tank! After searching and debating, I decided what I wanted, and with the help of our friend davejnz, my tank is now bathed in beautiful light!

David built a canopy for me out of a nice, high quality wood, which I will stain to match my stand. There are 4x24w T-5 bulbs (GE 6500K, UV Super Actinic, Giesemann 11000K Aquablue Plus, and a Giesemann Actinic/Blue Plus) running off an IC660 ballast.

Below are a few pics. I will try to get one that shows a better representation of the bulb color when I get back from vacation. (I'm going to miss you guys! I hope there will be an internet connection where I'm going!) These pics don't do it justice... the coloring is (to me) perfect - a pale purplish blue... and HOLY COW is it ever bright!

THANK YOU DAVID!!! I REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU'VE DONE FOR ME!!!

Way to go. It looks awesome and now Dave can settle down and know that everything works just fine with the lights. Hope to see the life growing real soon in that tank Tracy. It's nice to see when so many members can come together and get something done.

Yes i can, shipping that canopy out without having the bulbs here to test killed me.I was so looking forward to seeing the overall color of the bulbs over your tank, especially the new UVL(formerly URI)Superactinic.I'm so glad everything arrived OK and things are working fine for you Tracy.

Nice work! It really is nice to see our members working together to help each other out! This is so awesome. On other sites, all you ever see is people selling things for outlandish prices, then complaining to others behind the sellers back until it naturally will get back to him. Hence the fights begin and the backstabbing! CR is so cool!!! It takes some amazing members to make our little forum here keep on rocking! Thanks folks!! ...Angel :angel2:

Here's some pics of the actual canopy itself.I'm sure it's gonna look a lot nicer once Tracy gets finished staining it.Shad(Whoyah)deserves some credit as well as me and him often brainstorm carpentry/canopy designs together in the chatroom. He gave me a couple tips to make this canopy more functional too.

Thank you everyone ... I am thrilled about my new lights, but I am SO sad that I'm not home to see them! (I'm only halfway to my destination, but thank goodness the hotel here has internet... and a free breakfast! I want to try to stay here on the way back home! ;))

great work guys ... and girl. Bobby, I cannot take any credit for that beautiful piece of work.
I had forgotten, but David did tell me that Shad had a hand in the design of the canopy. Thank you!

Angel, you are so right about this forum... when I first started going to reef sites, I NEVER imagined that one day I would have made so many friends, much less friends that would help me out the way David has. He is an amazing person... generous, kind, and a bunch of fun!:p

Great colaborative effort by all parties, When you get back we'll have one more thing to add to that great new canopy... can't forget about the moonlights you requested to put in there!
