Well Ive got the ICH!!!!
Im bummed as most people would be.

I want to set up a hospital tank and Im not sure on what kind of filtration to use or accessories that will be needed.

I need to be able to put the following in there for 2 - 3 months
5 chromis
1 orange shoulder tang
1 Powder Brown tang
1 snowflake eel
2 pajama cardinals
2 perc clowns
1 sailfin tang
and a med sized anthias (orange with pink spots)

whats the minimum tank size I can get away with. My plan of attack is copper meds and leaving the DT fallow for 72+ days.

Depends on size of tangs. At least 2x 20 long, or a 40 breeder. Hob filter. Will just need to change the water often to keep ammonia down since there will be no established biological filter.

Another question.. how do you transfer the fish from the copper tank back to the DT? I don't want my corals to get zapped.

Do a fresh water dip and use a second clean net when transferring them back from the fresh water to the display.

Getting a cheap tank on craigslist later today hopefully I can get it all setup today. Anyone interested in a snowflake eel?

I've always had very limited success with hospital tanks...the extra stress and fact that I don't have one setup and established (always set it up on an as needed basis). Personally, I would consider feeding with garlic soak foods and run a UV sterilizer in your main tank to see if you can get on top of it. Especially, since you have quite a few fish...to house them without stress adding to the problem for 2-3 months, your going to need a large tank with plenty of hiding spots....and a good filtration system.

It is my belief that ich is always present in low populations in a marine tank and that healthy, stress-free fish are able to naturally avoid succumbing to it. But adding an adequately sized UV will allow you to get the upper hand if ICH populations get out of control.

My water parameters are near perfect. I tried lowering the salinity from 1.025 to 1.020. Lost quite a few fish. Pbt , 2 perc clowns , anthias and the list goes on.
