Skimmer Delay

I'm going to be out of town for about a month and I have someone to take care of the tank while I'm gone. My concern is my skimmer. If we lose power it will overflow when the power comes back on. Is there something I can buy to delay the skimmer from turning back on for a few minutes when power is restored?

only way i kno yu can do that is with a apex ..but not sure there is any delay powerbars that will do it when power goes out

I believe you would need to find a float switch to accomplish what you want. The DC pumps do hae a delay or feed mode that you can activate but you have to do it manually. If you we're to use the Apex you would also need a float switch to tell the Apex when the sump level is at the correct level. Something you might want to consider is to use the nipple on the collection cup and run plastic tube to a five gallon bucket. That way if you have the overflow issue due to the skimmer running before the return pumps bring the sump to your desired level. The excesses water would simply drain to the bucket . You might also be able to install inline check valves to keep the level from getting to high but they can also fail. Good luck
