20L sump, 3 chambers. 1st=overflow and skimmer. 2nd fuge area. 3rd return.

Light is a Utilitech Par30 15w 5k LED.
Added a Koralia Nano power head in fuge area.
1 1/2" SB, Chaeto 1 large piece of coral skeleton.

I've got cyano in fuge area
Chaeto dying

You really don't need the power head I would say personally. Also maybe the light is to close to water?

What color are the LEDs? Other than that your nitrates may be too low. That might explain the chaeto doing poorly. As well as the cyano bloom (it can produce its own nitrogen).

The LED is white. 6-8" from waters surface. So what do I do to correct this Tom?

Do you run GFO?

No GFO. Gotta small bag of PhosGaurd running though. I also have a filter sock, more to quiet the overflow then anything.

How large of power head is in the fuge? I like my sump/refuge to run slow.

Also the phosgaurd might be a small issue, not 100% sure though, may be worth some research.

The PG's only been running for 4 days. The Power heads a Koralia Nano about 240gph.

I agree, don't need a power head in there.

Ok I'll remove it :)

Test nitrates to see what they are. If too low, then feed fish/corals a little more food!

My nitrates are .0 I also harvested half my Chaeto. Mostly the not so good looking stuff :)

Maybe this is more of a question, but wouldn't you want the cheato before the skimmer? Depending on how much flow going through sump, the cheato may only be seeing clean, we'll somewhat clean skimmer water. I would think you want to give the cheato access to the dirtiest water, then skim it.

How much flow through the sump?

Your point is moot as there's no way for me to change my sump setup.
Best case I think may be to remove the sock a couple days a week. Or remove the chaeto period. Guess the sock & skimmer are doing their jobs :)

You don't want cheato before the skimmer. Cheato will always find its way through filter floss and clog up the skimmer pump. Is best to put it after the skimmer. Cheato doesn't take particles out of the water anyway, only nitrates, phosphates, and other minor trace elements. Skimmers take out actual particles.
