Does anyone know where I can find half way cheap flourescent tubes. The ones I now have are made by Current, they have 4 pins on the end,36" long 10,000K and they say japanese style ,I guess this is the four pin configuration on the end. At the LFS they are 49.99 apiece, with 2 actinics and 2 10K's this adds up. I looked on E-Bay and all I saw was a couple of current lighting fixtures. I'm thinking it might be easier to rewire the sockets to fit a more standard type of lamp,but do they make anything 10K, 3ft. long or is there a cheap lamp that will replace this?

I have seen adaptors that turn straight pin into square pin and the other way around too. I saw them on ebay last week.

Hope that helps.

Wiring different endcaps is no chore to switch from the .... type to :: type or vice versa. really simple, almost all of them just use a push in type locking mechanism for the wires. Somewhere on here is a thread detailing the wiring I started a couple years ago. Here is the link,

not as much usefull stuff in there as I thought... but it's a simple swap.

Here are the end scokes needed to change the pin configuration.

The bad news is, that there really is not a price diffrence based on pin configuartion.

Eric got me set up with new bulbs the last time I needed them. Check out his store here: http://www.myreefshop.com/xcart/catalog/ If he does not have what you are looking for listed, email him, he can probable get it.

Looks like he has left the country for a few weeks.

Thanks for the response guys. I can deal with the socket change but does anyone make a 96 watt 10K lamp. I looked on E bay and didn't find anything.

F&S have them
I prefer Current USA to Coralife but whatever works for you;

Better search terms on eBay might help... 96w power compact yields some good results.

Or check premiumaquatics.com (that's where I get most of my halides and tubes from)
