Our next MMMC meeting will be on January 25, 2015 at Preuss Pets in Lansing, MI. We'll start at 3:30pm.
This meeting will be our annual membership drive (aka membership renewal). Besides signing up for membership (@ $12.00 per year), we will be doing a fragging demonstration with the clubs Inland reef saw. Members will learn how to frag corals (if they don't know how) and be able to try cutting corals on the club's saw. The club will be providing a couple colonies to frag and members will be able to take a frag home with them.
MMMC has also purchased a couple of Honda generators that we will provide some instruction on their use. These generators will be available for members to use in the event of an emergency. We will discuss the details more at the meeting.
Lastly, we will be discussing the annual Mid-Michigan Coral Expo coming up on Feb. 22, 2015. We will need (expect) members to help work the event and will be looking for volunteers for the various jobs (setup, admissions, raffle, cleanup, etc). Of course, members get into the swap free as part of their membership.
Please reply to this thread if you plan to attend on January, 25.

Just got back from the expedition to pick up the colonies... we've got three sweet pieces this year. The colors of red, orange, pink and purple abound. :) No ugly ducklings here!
We should have some photos to entice you with tomorrow.

BTW- GRMAS members are also invited to participate in our meeting.
As I mentioned before, we will be signing up members and renewing at the meeting, so even if you aren't a MMMC member you can join that day.
Also, I wanted to let you know that members of both clubs can take 20% off 1 livestock item at Preuss Sunday afternoon.

Should be great fun this afternoon seeing familiar faces and meeting some new friends! Everyone will get to take home a beautiful frag and also watch a demonstration on the operation of the club generators. After last years devastating ice storm, during which many of our members suffered severe losses, your Board of Directors decided that there could be no greater benefit for club membership than to have access to a 2000 watt generator. We have two generators available for club members to use in the event of another ice storm or prolonged power outage. These generators will keep your animals alive and tanks running. If you join the MMMC every year and you only save everything in your tank once, you are way ahead of your investment in membership.
I will look forward to seeing everybody later this afternoon!

My daughter and I finally got home. It was a long trip, but very well worth it. We just finished putting the last coral into the tank after acclimating and dipping them. Kaitlyn is still talking about how she fragged coral on the bandsaw and has been positively beaming about it. I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everyone and let you all know we had a wonderful time meeting new people and making new friends.

That is what I like best about this hobby. Meeting people and teaching kids. :)
