i know the pics aint the best but am afraid its the best i can do anyone know what this is and should it stay or should it go i found him wandering around this morning and not purchased anything new in months so god knows where it came from...

It looks real blurry to me so it's hard to tell. But from the shape of it. Maybe a bristle worm. They are good in a reef as long as they don't get over populated.

I would tend to agree, but a clearer pic would be a big help. If you can get one, we'd love to look again!

thanks guys was a bristle worm but did`nt want to take the chance ,as it was making life for my Anemone very uncomfortable so had to flush the guy thanks all the same..

100% a bristleworm...... and where there is one there are many MANY more.

True... keep your eyes open for more. Most reefers don't mind them as long as they are relatively small because they are good for keeping your tank clean. How big is too big? Depends on who you ask. I have one in my 20 gallon that is about 4 inches long, and he's okay with me. HTH.

i have one about 8" in my 125, but i just cant catch him to get him out !! when i do catch him ... he is outta there !!

If it is red I would say fire worm. Either way don't touch t with your hands.

Which? Hermodice carunculata? Pherecardia striata? Eurythoe complanata?

By fireworm do you mean the Hermodice sp.? Just making sure because some people use the term bristleworm and fireworm interchangeably. Ordinary ole bristleworms come in all sorts of colors like blue and indeed red. I have the prettiest red ones in one of my tanks. But actual "fireworms" are very uncommon to find as a hitch hiker in thehome aquarium.

Here's a pic of a regular but red bristleworm that hang in my tank. Color is not an indication.
