My wife just noticed this slug like thing crawling in our live rock. It looked like it was about an inch long but was hard to tell if there was more in the rock.

One thing I thought of I put a sea hair in there a few months ago, but it didn't look like this at all.

Here are the pic's

Any ideas would be appreciated!

How about a polyclad flatworm? First thing that comes to mind since Angel recently discovered one in one of our tanks... take a look at the links in this thread and see if they help id it.....

It's a Chiton. Can grow to about 4", grazers on coralline algae and is harmless to your animals.

Hey...that's an awesome little Chiton. I wouldn't mind having one in each of my tanks. How do they reproduce? ....Angel :angel1:

They have separate sexes. The gametes are released into the water column where fertilization takes place.

Yes, Chiton reproduce just like stomatella do. "Broadcast spawning". They are great little additions to the system. Few, if any, report problems with them. The majority of the complaints come from folks with acrylic systems. They claim that the chiton (and limpets for that matter) can scratch the acrylic.

Wow, thanks for all the info! What a cool little guy.

I'm glad to hear that he is pretty harmless. Isn't it just amazing what pops up out of our tanks!!??
