Allright, I decided I would do a seperate thread since the last one hold terrible memories for me and was getting very very long!!!
This thread will be a very very welcomed breath of fresh air!! Well those of you who didnt follow the last terrible fiasco that happened with this behemoth. Here is the outcome.
This tank is now going to be an in wall tank that will be visible from from both sides. The side in the living will be a flush wall it will be framed so it in essence looks like a picture hanging.
The other side of the tank will be in my den/frag room. this tank will look like a free standing tank. I am going to modify the current stand and canopy so it will be also viewable from this side as well. So its like 2 tanks in one!!!!
This little project will kick off this wednesday. PROJECT 1: reinforce the floor underneath the tank. This should be fairly easy. this part of the floor is very easy to get to. PROJECT 2: clean out the closet on the den side and start the demolition. I hope to get the wall torn down on this side and the hole cut for the tank.
Will be taking pics as the project rolls on. I think this should take only a few weeks to accomplish. I am giving myself a month to get it done so I dont run into any time constraints on this.
WISH ME LUCK....................

That's why I'm waiting before I bust out my 40G project. ;) Let the excitement from all of your new tanks settle so that I can snag some attention. lol

NNNOOOOO you should start your now too!!! There are a lot of new tanks that the members are putting up right now its exciting!!! Renee's, yours, Fatmans, JoJo's, mine (am I missing anybody) this is awesome!!!

I kinda have my thread started in the Plumbing Ideas thread that I have posted in the Tanks section. Not much interest in that thread so far. I pick up the tank on Wednesday after work. I've also got 45mm and 40mm diamond hole saws coming, so we'll see if I can get my 7 holes drilled without destroying everything. Not much to photograph right now. The stand should be done in the next week or so.

graphixx
11-06-2006, 02:26 PM
and this is going on your desk at work correct??? Now that is a paper weight!!!! that will be awesome!!! or is it going in your office. not much sense doing a stand if its going on the desk

11-08-2006, 12:59 AM
that sounds really fun... it should be able to tear though a wall in no time

graphixx
11-08-2006, 04:38 PM
UPDATE!!!! Well today I spent with the spiders underneath my house reinforcing the floor. I think I but in 10-12 braces from the joists to the cement floor. Does that sound sufficient?????? I feel a lot better about this now. I didnt take pics cause the light was bad and didnt turn out good. but I might start on the cut out of the wall today not sure. but that I will get pics of!!!!

lReef lKeeper
11-08-2006, 04:45 PM
that sounds about right. how long is the tank ?? i would put a support brace about every 12" - 16" of the length and depth of the tank. or at least on EVERY floor joist to the concrete below. i have a feeling that is what you did !!

graphixx
11-08-2006, 04:47 PM
yeah that is pretty much what I did. I reinforced every joist. and then I went one more joist out from the tank and reinforced that as well. I figure I dont think I could OVERDO the reinforcement. I used 2x4's so they should hold pretty well.

lReef lKeeper
11-08-2006, 04:53 PM
if you have any left, you could always double them up. but i think you will be fine with what you have done. to bad the pics didnt turn out, cuz i would like to see the progress you made today.

BTW ... watch out for the dreaded Brown Recluse spider, it will mess your world up !! they tend to hide in dark, damp places (under houses) !!

graphixx
11-08-2006, 06:02 PM
I dont know about recluse but there were a TON of black widows. I had 2 drop on me and FREAKED ME OUT!!!!! As far as pics its not much to look at just a bunch of 2x4's inbetween joists and cement floor. but I sure feel a lot better about it now.

graphixx
11-08-2006, 06:08 PM
this is what I want the finished product to look like on the livingroom side of the wall........

jojo22
11-08-2006, 07:58 PM
LOL.... I can just picture you doing the spider dance under the house!!! Glad nothing got ya buddy!!

RHAPALA
11-08-2006, 08:51 PM
ONLY THING I COULD ADD ABOUT YER REINFORCING JOB IS 2X4'S ARE GOOD BUT 2 X 6 AND 2X 10S ARE EVEN BETTER ... BUT AS FAR AS THE 2X4'S DOING THE JOB SHOULD WORK OUT JUST FINE :)

lReef lKeeper
11-08-2006, 09:07 PM
Greg, if you want it to sit back like that, give me a call. you can not sit the tank flush with the wall (you probably figured that). it would be easier to tell (describe) what to do over the phone. oh, n/m i will call you !!

perpetual98
11-09-2006, 08:28 AM
Why can't you sit the tank flush with the wall provided you build the stand correctly?

graphixx
11-09-2006, 10:54 AM
I could have it sit with the wall but I think I kinda like this look a little better. and I just as soon build the stand so the entire tank sits on the stand. will make me feel a lot better. I am gonna start building the stand today. The tank will be perfectly centered on the wall top to bottom, side to side. it an 8'high from floor to ceiling (sp) and 10' width. so it should look pretty good I think.

jojo22
11-09-2006, 11:15 AM
Measure twice cut once, NOT the other way around!...LOL We want pics.

perpetual98
11-09-2006, 01:43 PM
Measure? What's this term you refer to? I'm not familiar with it.

lReef lKeeper
11-09-2006, 04:24 PM
Eric, in that pic ... the tank is about 3 1/2" backset (about the width of a 2x4). if you set if flush with the wall the tank would not have that small offset to it, but would be flush with the wall. you would have to cut the studs 1 1/2" shorter than the drywall, then box in all the studs across the top and bottom with a 2x4. then build the stand 1 1/2" shoeter than the top of the plate (2x4 that you used to box in the studs) to get the look he is going for.

perpetual98
11-09-2006, 04:28 PM
I understand how to do it both ways, I was just wondering why you said he couldn't do it flush is all. :)

lReef lKeeper
11-09-2006, 04:30 PM
oh, my bad buddy !! calm down a little bit. the main thing is DON'T GET EXCITED !!

Well tonight when I get home from the office I am gonna try and get the hole cut out of the wall. Or at least get the chalk line on it. But should not take that long to just get the rough cut out. I need to get the hole cut pretty quick. we are getting carpet put in here the next couple of weeks and I want the cutting done before the new carpet goes in. :D

Renee.....I hear ya about the housing in LA. 15 yrs. ago I lived there. We paid 875.00 a month for a roach infested apt. I moved quickly. I had never seen a cockroach till I moved there. I haven't seen one since I moved either. Remember....the raisins in the raisen bran do not move and everything goes into tupperware and gets stored in the frige.
I get the willies just thinkin about it. I have a HUGE house in central WI now and my morg. pmt is only 550.00. Couldn't rent a garage for that in LA.

11-12-2006, 03:26 PM
ALLRIGHT!!!! today is demolition day!!! when I get home I am gonna start taking out the wall!!!! I have everything measured and took a chalk line to it!!! I knocked a little hole out to see what I am looking at and seems pretty easy. I will take some pics today when I get started. I am also gonna try and get the hole framed in and maybe just maybe get the molding done but no worries if I dont, I have plenty of time.

perpetual98

11-12-2006, 11:25 PM
Well tonight I started tearing down the wall. thought it would be a breeze. usually a wall consists of sheet rock on both sides right???? NOT THIS WALL, well come to find out this used to be the back wall of the house before the addition. so the clowns that added on just sheet rocked over the back of the house. so I get the sheet rock off and there is WOOD SIDING!!!! so this took a little longer than expected. I will get the rest of it done tomorrow and framed in!!! here are some pics of the mess!!!

Umm, Greg, I hate to tell you this, but there's a hole in your wall.

dakar
11-14-2006, 10:48 AM
Dude!!! we are revoking your sawzall operating license! that's worse than my hack job on the walltank! hahaha Gonna have some serious patching up to do there later now...

Easiest way to get things level and plumb now would be to remove enough drywall on one side of the wall so you can trim the existing studs to get a 2x4 to sit LEVEL across all the supporting studs in the wall (with that big of a tank I'd shoot for no more than 1/8" over 4'. Maybe the wifey has a laser level you can borrow??? Then nail gun that sucker in place and if you feel the need a couple L brackets, just so it can't move... once you've got one side of the 'box' level getting the side plumb should be a snap with a framing square.

Couldn't tall from the pics if you started your 'hole' using a stud on either side... if not you'll likely want to get some in place there for lateral support later.

graphixx
11-14-2006, 12:34 PM
I KNOW I KNOW its not pretty but I figure the molding that will frame the hole will hide alot of the "mess". The other side of the wall (den side) I figured Iwould score the sheet back a couple of inches to expose the studs, cut them level and that should work for the framing (am I on the right idea??) and then patch that side. I got some white laminate that will go over the framing to give a nice finished look. I laid in bed allnight last night playing out how I would be able to get the framing nice and level. I am by NOOOOO means a carpenter or a handy man (nor have I ever claimed to be) but I am getting a little better. Shad and Joe gave me some good tips last night in the chat (thanks guys). So I will try to get that finished tonight when I get home. I good the entire day off tomorrow to hopefully get this project a little farther along. I would like to get the tank moved in and set Sunday so I think that should give me plenty of time. Then I can spend a few days getting her slowly filled and aquascpaed. Any input suggestions are still more than welcomed. Thank you guys for all your help on this project/nightmare but it is slowly getting funner.
I will be glad when I can just sit in front of it and sip a nice single malted scotch and watch the fishies!!!!!

jojo22
11-14-2006, 12:42 PM
I think that wood trim painted white will give you a nicer and less "getto" look. YEAH go ask your wife where the getto comment came from. She should really get online and give us ammo like that more often.

11-14-2006, 04:20 PM
allright you DINKS keep on track!!! you 3 knuckleheads are the kings of useless posts QUICK HIJACKING MY THREAD!!!!
Tonight I will get all the studs level and try and get the framing done if not tonight I have all day tomorrow to just take it slown and get it done. it is kinda nice not having any time constraints but its killing me taking sooo long. but its hard, the ony time I have had to work on this is when I get home from work and that only leaves a couple hours a night tops. so a couple of days off sure will help.

jojo22
11-14-2006, 04:21 PM
Hey at least he didn't just go cutting into a load bearing wall...LOL I can see his wife on the news now... "I don't know how the knife flew all the way from the kitcen, it must have been a freak accident" *as she wipes he prints clean*

Like I said I will be home in brobably 3.5 hours feel free to call. PM me if you need my number again.

dakar
11-15-2006, 01:10 PM
Maybe a helpful hint for a little further down the road... when you set up to trim in the front cut your molding so that it overhangs the drywall a bit (maybe 1/4" - 1/2" depending in the width of your molding). Should help give the whole thing a smoother look... kind like I did on the wall tank...
http://www.captivereefing.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1269&stc=1&d=1141240630

And IMO, NOTHING looks better than raw oak and tung oil, but with SW I'd stick with an oil based uerethayne.... you should even seal up the rough drywall edges with it to avoid the little crumblies in your tank. I went a little crazy and sealed all the studs and everything too...

perpetual98
11-15-2006, 01:38 PM
I went a little crazy

Ahhh, that explains it. :D

dakar
11-15-2006, 01:57 PM
Also explains that it WAS a load bearing wall too! hee hee But I only cut out 3 studs.

lReef lKeeper
11-15-2006, 02:45 PM
i wonder if that wall will eventually SAG ??!!

jojo22
11-15-2006, 03:35 PM
I think that would depend on where the hole is and just how much weight it is being use to support.

graphixx
11-15-2006, 09:28 PM
Well today I got most of the work done. all I am waiting for now is a little mud to dry and then gonna sand it down to get it smooth and slap some paint on it. Tomorrow I will start on the stand. I am hoping to get the tank moved into the house and put in place hopefully friday or if not sunday for sure. Just taking it nice and slow!!!!!!! But what do you guys think. Also I want to thank everyone for the help on this sucker!!!!!

graphixx
11-15-2006, 09:29 PM
and yes the 3rd picture you can see that I have to cut out some of the wall on the other side to get the tank in. that comes down tomorrow!!!!!

UPDATE: Its really starting to come around. just waiting for a little drying on some mud, had to do a little smoothing and then sprayed some texture on the wall to match up and then the wife will paint everything this afternoon while I build the stand. I am hoping to have the tank in the house this sunday!!!!! but if I dont then no problems. I have plenty of time.
OOOHHHHH I FORGOT!!!! I got a couple of critters yesterday to. a 2 spot goby about an inch long (cuter than heck) and a lettuce nudi (cooler than heck) I would take pics but I cant find either of them they are sooo small.

Hey gang, well the living room side of the wall is DONE!!! the Den side of the wall gets one more coat of paint and its done. I cut the closet walls out wider to fit the tank on the den side and framed an mudded in. will sand and paint that in the next day or 2 and then put new molding on that. I will be putting plywood sides and front on the stand also and get the doors all done and get that painted. if all goes well I would like to have everything done and then tank set by Tuesday. and then spend at least 3 days getting it slowly filled and aquascaped. I am taking nothing but time. I need to figure out what I am gonna do about the lighting. I think I will build a type of frame and then hang them over the tank. not sure about that yet. but I will get some pics up in the next day or 2.

11-24-2006, 08:16 PM
Here's a suggestion for you... borrowing from our *future* plans for the next big tank.... imagine a canopy that lifts straight up and down (to adjust the lighting height or allow more room for getting into the tank).

Think about this.... two way wall switch, a small 1/4 horse motor with a reduction gear box cabled to the panel holding the lamps running on some vertical casters/runners. No rocket science involed, but IMO saweeeeet.

perpetual98
11-24-2006, 08:27 PM
I don't think you'd even need a 1/4 horse motor for that. Especially if it was geared down. I think my garage door opener is a 1/4 horse. lol

Allright, here are some new pics. the first 2 are of the stand just about done. I added a few more supports and sunday I will put on the plywood and cut the drawers and slap some molding on it. the 3rd pic is of the finished living room side. the last pic is of the den side where I widened the what used to be closet I will get it finished up here in the next day or 2. but slowly its coming around, I cannot say how nice it is to just kinda take your time at this.
I also have some AWESOME ideas on some aquascaping that I am gonna do but I will just tease you right now. not at that point in the game yet!!!

UPDATE!! Well this aint much about the construction but I am gonna try and get the LR racks built today. I need to do this soon since they take 5 days to cure. This is a project that I am very very excited about. I have been researching this for the past week and have found some very very neat ideas and have incorporated a few of them into this design. These will both work as racks for the rocks and also a home for cryptic sponges and pods!!!! I will photo the whole process.

Graphixx...it's that way in my house too. I am the one asking my hubby to knock out walls and reinforce floors for my tanks. I can't remember the last time he got to build anything that wasn't fish related. He's a good guy about it though.

The lights on my 125 were on rollers and tracks. I could raise and lower them for cleaning or maint. It was NICE. I will have to look for the old post I had of the 125g in wall tank. It was great fun.

12-08-2006, 09:23 PM
Well not much to report. I got the sump in under the tank and got the face of the stand done. gonna wait till the plumbing is done under the tank before i put the face on. I am going to put the plywood and foam under the tank sunday (the only day I could get someone to help lift it) and then start filling the sucker up. And then I will fill it with sand and water and the base rock and a little LR, I will let that run for about a week and then the rest of the LR and let that run a week. And then I will add the rest of the LR that has corals on it along with the rest of the corals. Let that run a day and then slowly add the fish in. I am going to use the existing canopy it came with. I am just gonna have to mod it a little and then repaint it so it matches the stand. this will give it a nice clean look on the den/fragroom side of the tank. I will be glad when I can sit back and enjoy the tank. But like I said its nice not being on a time crunch. But then again i wish this was done amonth ago.

graphixx
12-09-2006, 11:25 AM
it is a pain in the rear to move. but literally the only thing I need to do is just pick it up and slide the plywood and foam under it and set it down. so that should be a fairly easy task (knock on wood) but its getting there.

hummer
12-09-2006, 09:31 PM
why the foam and should all tanks have it?

Whoyah
12-09-2006, 11:03 PM
The foam even out the pressure points from the frame on to the tank. Some thing like a screw head from the frame that sticks up can cause a pressure point which could lead to a crack in the tank, which is very bad news. Foam is probably a good idea on large tank that has a flat bottom and no rim.

jojo22
12-09-2006, 11:05 PM
Foam is also used under the stand of large tanks because it will help the tank somewhat level it's self out.

graphixx
12-12-2006, 01:29 PM
Well FINALLY I have the plywood with the foam under the tank and she is sitting pretty. I got 90% of the plumbing done need to go get a nut from lowes and it will be done. Gotta go get some more sand to put in there. Today hopefully I will have all the sand up and the salt and start putting some of the rock in. right now its pretty cloudy in there with the 4 bags of sand in there right now. But at least it has got water in it. Everything is sitting pretty level so that makes me happy and the stand is nice and stable. Not muc in the pic department to take today so hopefully I will get some pics up tomorrow when its not cloudy. But now the FUN actually gets to start. I will start modidfying the canopy probalby thursday and get that baby on the tank. I am gonna let the tank run a couple of weeks just to stabilize it out. I am sure I am gonna have a little cycle in there.
But like I said NOW THE FUN GETS TO START!!!!!!

Well yesterday (thursday) I spend all day on the tank. I got the racks in and got some rock on them. One of them was a little too big but I made it work. Right now I have 90% of the rock in there. I threw hermit in there 2 days ago and saw him last night and the same with a snail. I also had a tulip anenome floating in my holding tank and threw that in there. and all 3 are doing good. but I am srue I will get some sort of a cycle. I will hopefully finish getting the rock in tonight and aquascaped. I will fire up the overflows tomorrow and then let it sit for a couple weeks to let it stabilize. right now I have just 1x400w light over it and WHOLLY COW I dont need to use the lights in the living room anymore. I cant wait to see it with all the lights fired up.

perpetual98
12-15-2006, 02:35 PM
Are you going to use a light mover?

And don't you have a job? :)

graphixx
12-15-2006, 02:46 PM
no I am not using a light mover. the canopy that is going on the tank has a frame that the lights are fastened to and tilts up like a car hood. so that will leave me plenty of space if I need to get in there. AND YES I HAVE A JOB!!!!!! That is actually why this has taken soo long. I am doing this stuff when I get home from work. ssshhheeeessshhhh

perpetual98
12-15-2006, 03:31 PM
LOL

If you used a light mover, you could get away with less halides and lower your electric bill. You could probably get away with two 400W over the tank and actually have better coral growth and a lower 'lectric bill.

Just my 1.5 cents.

perpetual98
12-15-2006, 07:17 PM
Hmm, let me try to crunch a few numbers....

Your way... (If I remember correctly, your new tank is 8 feet wide)

(All items for reference only. :) )

Luninarc Mini reflectors: $120 each ($480 total)
400W halide bulbs: $60 each ($240 total)
400W ballasts: (we'll go magnetic to save money) $75 each ($300 total)

1600W per day x 8 hrs per day x 4.77 cents per kilowatt hour (Idaho is the cheapest in the US BTW) = 61 cents per day, $18.50 or so per month roughly and $223 per year in electric

Total cost for 1 year of 4x400W lights = $1243
Total cost for 2 years figuring 1 set of replacement bulbs: $1706

My way...

Luninarc Mini reflectors: $120 each ($240 total)
400W halide bulbs: $60 each ($120 total)
400W ballasts: (we'll go magnetic to save money) $75 each ($150 total)
Lightrail 3 kit and rail: ~$200
Lightrail trolley kit to add another light: ~$50

800W per day x 8 hrs per day x 4.77 cents per kilowatt hour = 30 cents per day, $9.10 or so per month roughly and $109 per year in electric

Total cost for 1 year of 2x400W lights = $869
Total cost for 2 years figuring 1 set of replacement bulbs: $1098
[/b]
And I'm not getting soft in my old age, I'm getting better, like a $4 bottle of wine baby!

:)

Allright baby, its all down hill from here!!!! I got all the plumbing done and finished topping the beast off!!!!! everything is looking good so far. I think I got the flow rate dialed in and seems to be running smooth. I have a few more pieces of LR in the tank. I will do that tomorrow. And then I am gonna get the aquascape how I like it and then let it sit for a week or so just to see how the parameters go. and soon as everything looks good ..............................THE FISH AND CORALS ARE GOING IN!!!!! Its nice having all the plumbing and "noisy" stuff on the other side of the wall. Pretty dang quiet. I am excited for the aquascaping. I think its gonna look really really nice if it turns out how I have it pictured in my head. but then again has anything gone that way on this little adventure.
I am gonna upgrade the pump for the manifold. I need one twice as good. gonna look into some mag pumps, not sure what I want. But as for the time being I have some Powerheads dropped in there. I have 2 return pumps int he sump one for the manifold and one for the built in returns so the flow in there actually very good right now.
But that is where I am at. I will get some pics up tomorrow. right now there is not much to look at just a pile of rocks with a single light over it.
THANKS FOR TUNING IN!!!!

Dude, it looks SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD! Glad you finally get to stare at something other than a hole in the wall.

Speaking of holes in walls...I almost called you today! We up to a flooded hallway this morning. I had a buddy drag his Saws-All over and we cut a MONSTER hole in my living room wall. Found the leak, turns out the fixtures in the shower are falling apart. 20 years will do that I suppose. I have my work cut out over the next few days trying to get this repaired before my folks show up for Christmas this weekend.

On the list of To-Do; Tear out all the tile in the shower, replace faucet, valve, and shower head hardware, install new vinyl shower walls, replace drain kit, paint all wood around water damaged area with anti-mold paint, re-dry wall monster hole, seal and paint the monster hole, install new carpet pad, install new tack strip that rotted, relay the carpet, replace baseboard, paint that sucker to match the rest....then open the doors because Family should be walking up the driveway by the time I get that all done!

Pack your crap and get down here to help me...I will feed you some Honeybaked Ham on Christmas!!!

Well good news and bad news. first the bad news. last night I was checking on my tank. I noticed that my damm sailfin tang WAS DEAD!!!! I think it might have been the stress from the holding tank. but I am not sure cause he had no signs of stress and he was eating like a pig. so that made it final. I dropped everything I was doing and started moving EVERYTHING into the new tank. it took approx 2 hours to move but I got everything in there. I watched them very closely the rest of the night (about 3 hours) and went to bed hoping they would be fine. I woke up this morning and kicked on the lights and everybody came out and looked very very happy. My hippo tang seems like she is in heaven, just cruising around you can almost see the smile on her face. and all of the corals look happy and all puffed out and polyps a dancing. I will get some pics later in the day to show you. It breaks my heart. I had some serious serious loss getting this tank up and running. I would say I lost approx 30-40% of my corals and over 1500.00 in fish. But I can honestly say I did try my hardest to make sure I had mininal loss of life. but I guess somethings you just cant control. :( I am gonna miss that tang

Allright here are the pics with everyone and everything in their new home. Now remember this is still a work in progress. right now I am only running 1x400w 1x250w MH with 2 actinics. so there is literally double the light going in there. and I am waiting for my new pump for the manifold so right now I have powerheads in there for flow. Its still pretty bare in there. but that will eventually start to fill in. I have some corals ordered but gonna wait a little bit till they are in the tank. but so far I am very pleased with the way its looking. the LR racks are AWESOME there is soo many little nooks and crannys for the fish to cruise around in. they really seem to be enjoying it. the length of the tank is nice but what amazes me is the depth of the tank. the tank is 34 inches front to back. they have sooo much room to swim around it its fantastic. it looks like everyone had their favorite little spot picked out and are starting to nestle in .............. HERE ARE THE PICS!!!!!

thanks guys I appreciate it. and I only have 1 room to clean. and that should not be toooo bad. i will hopefully get most of it cleaned up tomorrow. I will take before and after pics of the room. its in pretty bad shape. I will hopefully get the canopy done tomorrow and get it on the tank and then I can take down the 50 gallon hold tank and get it out of the way. I bought a new couch to go in that room. so this room will now be a den/sitting room so it should be pretty nice

slowly but surely this tank is finishing up. I have come to the conclusion that I cannot add anymore fish. I have a damsel that is meaner that heck and tortures any otherfish I put in there and the other fish in there arent very kind either. I think its because they have all lived together for at least 2 years so they are gonna have plenty of room I only have: hippo tang, yellow tang, lyretail anthia (male),bangai cardinal, damsel from ****, maroon clown, perc clown, lawn mower blenny, jeweled goby, 2 spot goby. I tried a copperband last week and literally got torn apart and I could not net him to save him so that was a sad day. I will try 8 peppermint shrimp for the aptaisia and that is all the rest of the live stock that will be put in excluding corals.
I got a dual 400w ballast and have both 400 watters running they are 14k's and that is ALOT of light I dont think I am gonna run the actinics or any other lighting. every coral is doing FANTASTIC!!!!
I ordered a sequence pump for the manifold (well the wife did) a hammerhead that is 5800 gph for the manifold will be plumbed to 8 1 1/4" ports so hoping that will be enough flow.
This has been hard to do I am on the road 5 days a week with work and then trying to cram a weeks worth of personal "to-do's" in 2 days leaves very little time for anything.
The canopy needs a little trimming and then a coat of paint and it will be done. But slowly its coming around. I will post some pics when I get home.

I will get some pics up tonight. I have to clean the glass. and as for fishing the damsel....... I HAVE TRIED. that fish is SMART!!! I have tried everything, net,jar I even used a fish hook with some scallop on it. the little ******* knows that I am out for him I just know it. I could of caught every other fish in my tank 10 times over with the hook or the net but that damsel just goes and hides. I even tried (please forgive me for saying this) spear fishing but he is tooo dang smart. I will figure something out.

Yeah I know I am a little behind getting this done (along with other projects) But last night I ordered my return pump. A sequence hammerhead pump 5800gph http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=MM1158

This will feed 8-1 1/2 inch ports. should have good flow. The sump will be drilled on the right side of the tank and go 1 foot to the return pump and then from the pump it will go approx 5 feet up and then "T" to the from and rear of the tank and then each T will 90 to run the full length of the tank the front and the back of the tank will each have 4 - 1 1/2 inch ports which water will enter the tank. The is the best way I figure witht he least path of resistance thus keeping max head pressure.
The pump hopefully will be here by thursday and I can get the manifold done thursday. The biggest pain is gonna be taking the sump out from under tha tank to get drilled.
I will take pics of this adventure

will do. I am gonna redo the sump too while its out. I need to install some baffles and clean up the refugium and get a light hung on there. this will free up a lot of space in the sump (eliminating both return pumps that are in there now) so should make for a nice refugium (and home for my damsel if I ever catch him) but yes pics will come. I checked my tracking on the pump and it will arrive friday so I will try and get all the holes drilled on the top of the main tank sunday and the plumbing ran up top sunday and then thursday take the sump in to get it drilled. and then finish the canopy and get it on and put on the front of the stand and it should be all cleaned up.

thanks guys I appreciate it. I would of had the manifold plumbing done yesterday but I bought the wrong size holesaw, I will get that done tonigh and get some pics up. checking on a price to get a hole drilled today if its too much I might just end up ordering some bits and doing it myself, it would be nice to have those incase I end up doing some more drilling in the future. And I am excited to redo this sump right now there are no baffles or anything in there its pretty bad so that will be nice. I am excited to get this tank finished up and have my den back to a normal CLEAN situation right now I have stuff strung from **** to breakfast so all of that is in the works. For the next couple of weeks is tricky on our indonesian shipments cause of the storms but the soloman and phillepine are coming in very nice. Long time no see. I thought I would pop in and just give a quick blurb of how the tank is doing....... Not too bad actually. I got the manifold done and it works good I have some nice flow in the tank. Got the front of the stand on and that really cleaned up the look to it. The canopy will go on in the next week to 10 days. I have a couple of shipments coming in that I want to get into the tank before the canopy goes on.
This week I added some critters I got a nice galaxea coral, some clove polyps, a beautiful bubble tip anenome, cleaner wrasse.
What I have coming in: 1 male purple queen anthia and 2 females, painted fairy wrasse, some montipora's, enchinatas, purple digitata and I know I am missing something.
The fish and corals seems to be doing very well in the tank and I am quite pleased, the sps corals are doing fantastic!!! Great polyp extension and seem to be growing nicely.
The only problem is the aptaisia!!!!! Its out of control, I have got 4 peppermint shrimp and a copperband in there but I dont think they are putting a dent in it. I think I might order a 6 pack of berghia nudibranch's to help this. I am gonna try and do some kalk paste here in the next day or 2 to try and get a handle on it see if that helps.
I PROMISE I will get some pics up when the rest of my stuff comes in and get the glass cleaned.
But just cruising right along!!!!

That is a deal. I am doing a 100 gallon water change this weekend and cleaning the glass so that will give me a good opportunity for some new pics. I added a new deresa clam about 7" across he is a beauty. also got a couple of mushrooms. and I ordered some new stuff as well I have a threadfin flasher wrasse coming in, 4 new zoo colonies, a couple of acros coming in and I bieleve a few montiporas as well. I will get them in and settled and get some new pics. everything so far is doing good. I have good growth in the tank and everyone is happy. I need some more cleaners in there I am having a hard time keeping up with the algae on the glass but nothing some snails cant fix. But yes I promise I will get some pics in the next 4-5 days
