Coral Propagation Workshop

Eric Borneman and myself are doing a coral propagation workshop (We are both also doing PowerPoint presentations as well as the workshop.) in Louisville this coming weekend. It is through the Louisville Marine Aquarium Society, so check it out.

Please let us know if you plan on comeing to Ohio. Or at least me cause nothing cool ever happens in Ohio we have only a few reef clubs and they are all to far from me. Hey, anyone know how to go about starting one of these things up???

Wow....what I would give to a coral propagation seminar with both Eric Borneman & Steven Pro leading it. When I have the corals to do it, I love to propagate as much as possible. It's awesome creating a whole new reef life from another! I wonder how far Idaho is from Wisc. Dells! Like most of you here, it doesn't seem like much goes on in our area except for a ton of tourism, unless of course it's in Madison, WI. I haven't heard anything from our reef society because it's very seldom that we would get to attend a regular meeting. It's an hour and a half away, and I haven't heard much about the meetings except they have pretty cool frag swaps.

We'd like to start one in our area so that we can attend more meetings and reap the benefits of the other reefers experiences locally. Our closes Salt Water Reef LFS is also in Madison, and being that Dakar works there, the last place he feels like going to is the LFS. You know how the wheels of you car only turn in the direction of home when you're done with a long day of work, right? Well, Dave's are the same way....homeward bound! We haven't found to many people that are reef owners around here, but I would have to say that an advertisement in a few papers might bring some people out of the woods (quite literally)! Jojo, that might be a workable solution for you too! If all else fails, just start your own!! :D We always say, when we have the board all caught up with all the ideas and expansions for the site done, we'll have time to do something like that. The ideas and our list of things we have planned just seems to get longer instead of shorter. That's a good thing though. It's impressive to see our membership rise on a daily basis. Maybe, just maybe, Dakar & I are doing something right here! :rolleyes:

Just hearing about some of the experiences other reefers have had at conferences and such is a treat. It never hurts to share you experience when the time arises! Thanks to all that share their experiences!

I have previously spoken in Cleveland, Columbus, Youngstown, and Akron, but don't currently have anything scheduled for Ohio right now.

As for starting a club, just start getting people together. Most young clubs rotate from one member's home to the next every month. Keep it friendly and informal and let things grow on their own.
