i wanted to ask how can i ask for help from other people where do i go and how do i know how knowledgable are they because i recently changed my water pump in my nano aquarium and my water looks milky now with lots of little bubbles my tank is a 6 gallon innovative marine nano tank water pump that came with the tank was 13-92 gallons per hour i swapped it with a ehiem compact 1000 to get more water running in tank for future zoa's did i do right oh and i also included a cobalt neo-therm water heater

Hi Steve. 265gph on a 6g is a lot of flow and IMO way to much. I'm not surprised your tank is cloudy. Is your sand getting blown around?

I agree with Jamie! That's a huge return for that little tank. Sounds like she said also it might be sucking air creating micro bubbles. If it was me I would put the old pump back in and consider diffrent power heads to get better flow for those Zoa's you discussed.
If your looking for a good source. Jamie,MizTanks is the Nano Queen. I can think of few reefers who have done a better job with the small systems. A great wealth of knowledge and couldn't find a better mentor

i just got home and noticed my baby clown fish was almost dying I'm so sad but to my surprise as soon as i turned off that ehiem pump the little guy was getting back to himself what happened I'm so scared i want this little tank to work please advice on what to do next i think i also topped of the tank with a little to much reverse osmosis water should i take out half of the saltwater tomorrow and replace it with fresh salt water from the aquarium store? just in case that ehiem pump pushed something in the water it did do a ugly cloud of water when i placed it inside for the first time i also placed my new water heater cobalt neo therm and set to 78 degrees is that ok I'm checking it with a glass thermometer just to make sure its right

i really am at your mercy Jamie,MizTanks please help with any advice my tank just finished its cycle 2 weeks i placed a thing (bottle) that gives the tank bacteria i can't remember the name but the guy at the store said i could put fish in right away with that he also said it would help the cycle process i don't want to lose my little clown I've grown quite attached to him he's so cute my daughter loves him we call him you guessed it NEMO but i do want to learn and check my water instead of going to the store all the time its confusing but I'm gonna have to go tomorrow and check and see where I'm at I'm thinking of taking out half or more of the water and start fresh what do you think

Hi Steve. That is a beautiful lil nano tank. Looks very clear now [emoji7] You did right by removing the Ehiem. Nemo should be fine now that the Monsoon season is over-lol! [emoji13]

I kept an 8g for 2yrs and let me tell you, it was quite the challenge!

Your spot on with wanting to check your own water parameters. One of the first questions any experienced reefer will ask another is, what are your parameters? This is the most important information to have available when asking for help! You need your own test kit.
Honestly, I can't safely advise you without knowing what your specific gravity (SG) is being kept at. Nor do we know what your ammonia, nitrates, nitrites are. These 4 are the most important in a new tank.
A simple to use, less expensive and most common test kit is the API. For now just stick with this for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and high range PH. Get a Hydrometer or better yet a refractometer to test specific gravity and salinity.

Most importantly, keep it simple and be patient!! NOTHING good happens fast in this hobby.

How about an update?!!
