Alright, I've decided to go with T5 lighting with LED moon's on my 20L nano project. My questions are:

How many bulbs do i need? 2,3, or 4?

What brands are known to be good? Also, those that are known to be bad?

How hard are retro'-kits to put together?

How well do retro's preform compared to manufactured fixtures?

Thanks again!

Go with 2 or 4 bulbs. With T5 lighting, the main thing that you want to make sure you get is individual reflectors for each bulb. Without those, T5 isn't really that great. I had a 20L set up with a 4x24W staggered setup that I really like. I'm actually selling it now because I'm not using it and I'm setting up another tank. It's got IceCap SLR reflectors and IceCap waterproof endcaps. Top of the line stuff. The TEK stuff is good too, but I think IceCap is just a little better. With a 4 bulb setup you can do a dawn/dusk effect too, which a lot of people prefer.

They go for $270 + S/H on ReefGeek. I was going to ask for $150 shipped. I figure it would cost me about $15-$20 or so to package it and ship it.

The bulbs are probably good for another few months, but I did use them for a while. There's 2 blue and 2 white bulbs.
