well, a while ago, some halimeda kinda detached and was like "absorbed" into my xenia, I was advised to let it be, and it kinda slid towards the bottom. No the xenia is mounted to a piece of algae instead of the rock and is almost about to fall off of the rock completely what do I do!??????!!?!?!!?!

if you can get a rubberband and put it around the xenia lightly so snugs it to the rock that would work. Or if you can joust a toothpick into the base of the xenia and into the LR that would work also. or if you can snug the xenia between a couple of pieces of LR. xenia is pretty quick to adhere to LR and stuff

yeah that would work, as long as you have it in there stable wether it is rubberband, toothpick or just by wedging it into rocks that will be fine

The jalimeda will be fine, I would wait till the xenia attaches and then you could cut the halimeda off of the xenia with an exacto knife

I'm sorry I just dont understand, the halimeda is flat on the bottom of the xenia, so if the xenia attached to the rock, it would have to attach all around the halimeda. How would I then cut it off?

hmmmm that is weird. as long as the stalk of the xenia is against rock it will adhere to the rock. it doesnt have to be the base. xenia will adhere anywhere on its body to rock. that is how I used to frag it. I would just sit a piece of LR against my clump of xenia and it would grow onto the rock.

so should I try to peel off the halimeda? or cut it off with a blade, becuase I just see it becoming a problem again in the future.
