Allright, the tank is half full but I am gonna drain it tomorrow and refill. I wanted to get all the debris out of it so it would be less dirty. soooo while I have it empty I am wondering......... Right now the tank sits on the stand. the stand does not have a solid piece of wood on top. the tank is setting on just the stand ( see pic below) do you think that is enough support. I was thinking of getting 1/4' piece of plywood and putting it on the stand so the tank would sit on the plywood. or do you think just on the stand will be enough.
Any input is welcome. can you guys tell I am scared to death this tank is not gonna have enough support. I just want to make dddaannnngggg sure when its filled it is gonna sit nice and pretty.

THANKS GUYS I APPRECIATE ALL THE INPUT I HAVE GOT ON THIS SUCKER.

Well greg if you look at the bottom of your tank you will see that it has a brim that sticks out further than the bottom (or at least all tank I have seen do , but I have never seen the bottom of a tank that big). If that is the case you will be fine the way you are as the tank is suported by that brim and needs nothing in the middle. However if the tank is totally flat on the bottom I would say you are nuts for not haveing plywood there in the first place tince any little thing sticking up a fraction of an inch would become a stress point for the bottom of your tank to crack. If your not sure what the heck I'm talking about post a pick of the bottom of your tank and I will try to explain better.

It couldn't hurt to add the plywood, and you would have the extra piece of mind... no laying in bed at night thinking "Will it hold?" I say go for it!

He would be fine without it though. He just reminded me it is 1 inch acrylic.

2x4s are pretty dam strong, but extra support is always a plus.

Just make sure you measure the hole for the overflow first!!!! I would cut it out about an inch biger than the pipe to give you some fugeing room to get the tank where you want it.

How's your clearance for the framed hole in the wall? Got enough to spare an extra 3/4"? For some reason I assumed you'd already had it in place, I would definately add it before you fill her up... an and you should replace the foam to level it out with a new sheet now that it's been compressed.
