My yellow tang has little black spots all over his body not on fins just on body. Any ideas????

it could be black spot disease aka black ich.
it's actually caused by tubellariun flatworms, hope i spelled that right.
if i were you i would do a fresh water dip and quarrantine him.
does any other fish show any signs?

Hey John007, I was just wondering, I see under your avatar that you have a H.O.T. Magnum 250 running in your 55g, I have one and it is a micro-bubble factory. I have no idea why it does that in my SW tank because it doesn't do it in my FW tank??!

Do you have the same problem?

micro bubbles caused by airleak or not enough water in it when you start it.If I get bubbles I take it off and add water usually cures it

John how long have you had this yellow tang? Is he/she a new arrival?

I have had tang about 2 months....my coral banded shrimp has been trying to clean the tang up....I guess????

My coral banded cleans a fresh water moray eel that I transfered into my Reef aquarium, it is awesome it comes up to the eel and the eel opens its mouth wide and lets the shrimp do his deed.

the banded coral shrimps will pull and eat parasites off the fish, ive seen my pair do it before.

The freshwater dip is the best method ive ever used to treat black ich. You can watch it fall off shortly after. But QT him definately, if not, the worms will just keep reproducing.
