Hello,

Some saddening news, I am home for lunch and noticed my sailfin is swimming into the sides of the tank, floating to the bottom and sitting there, twitching a little.

A couple of weeks ago I had an ich outbreak, I proceeded to put a couple of cleaner shrimp in there which got rid of 99% of the visible ich on my tangs, my yellow tang is fine, but the sailfin I think got it worse. His fins have been splitting progressively, and up until yesterday he was eating garlic soaked nori.

Is there anything else I can do for him at this point? He seems very near death =(

I will be sad if I loose him, I've had him since I got the tank and grew very attached to him. Im sad to see him in such poor health.

Any help would be appreciated! thanks

Unless you have QT tank set up you are pretty much at the "hope for some luck" stage. Even at this stage, moving him to a QT might stress him to death. I hope he can pull through...or that it ends quickly for him. Sorry for you lose. I know how it feels.

I'm sorry to hear he's doing so poorly. I hope he'll perk back up for you!

thank you!

He's actually swimming around alot more tonight. seems to be doing a little better. Upon closer inspection I am noticing that his sailfin seems to be receding and a couple of his fins are splitting. Could this be ICH or maybe HLLE?

well unfortunately he died. my shrimp, crabs and bristleworms made quick work of him though.

I replaced the uv sterilizer bulb and all the other fish are looking healthy. Live and learn I guess.

He went downhill pretty quickly though, I was under the impression that HLLE takes awhile to kill the fish.

thank you.

when i went to the fish store today I saw a little baby sailfin and laughed to myself. hope he has better luck.

I did see a real nice passer angel, i think it was called. very colorful. considering getting one of those in his place.
