Heh, yesterday, Britt and I took a random drive to the beach (Panama City Beach)! While walkin along on the sand, we started noticing TONS of shells! So, we started pickin them up. There would be enough to either place these in the tank (or sump) whole and probably cover the top layer of sand (not that I'd do that.), or I could crush them up and have alot as well...
Would these be safe in a reef tank? Is it reccommended?
I'll post some pics of them and some of the beach as well...
BTW... The water was EXTREMELY clear this time of year!

Just remeber the 'beach' is the collection cup for mother natures skimmer. Clean them up real good to avoid bringing any contanminents in with you and they'll be fine. Over time they will break down and add calcium and other trace elements to your tank.

K, by "cleaning them" what would you reccommend? Vinegar? Fresh water?...
Thx for the reply!

You could try boiling them for a few minutes to kill anything living, then just a nice rinsing in some fresh water would suffice I think.
