Tazzy's new adventure

well been helping a buddy set up a reef tank and it started an itch in me again so i have decided to start a mini reef.

so here it is i already had a 29g tank stand and light usual basic fw setup that i decided to convert

i added a aquac remora skimmer to it took off the hob filter it had and a small korlia power-head pump that is it for equipment

I am doing this setup stupid simple bare minimal as for equipment

for rock sand I have 40 lbs of crushed coral and dry agg sand mixed 50/50 and about 30lbs of rock

i have added a pair of clowns and 4 blue green chromis to the tank for fish

future fish are going to be a lawnmower bleny, 6line wrasse and maby a dwarf angel either coral beauty or flame angel

for corals it is going to be all softies so far only thing in it is a leather

well unfortunately i lost my clowns reminds me why i don't buy live stuff from pet-co well today i went and got me a coral beauty and a bunch and cleanup crew

Well went and picked up a cleaner shrimp because i see some white spots on the coral beauty

Grrrrrrrr stupid reefing addict always must go bigger bug bit me hard

I went out an got a 120g system couldnt pass on the price

So as soon as i have the equipment and dyr goods i will be setting it up as a major upgrade

Well it is filled and in cleaning sterilization during full wet test in the shed

Figure if the new tanks leaks or somthing at least it wont hurt anything out there

got me a new toy it is a bubble master 200

3 hours in and already skimmate in cup

well setup a ato system in my tank and almost had a major problem because of it for some reason it came and added water like it is supposed to but for some reason instead of filling the pump chamber water stayed in main chamber with the skimmer almost causing the chamber to over flow

seems the sponge i had between chambers plugged up a little causing the problem right now i am letting it evap out the extra 2 to 4 gal of water thankfully didn't affect my salinity enough to be a problem

well went to the swap in lansing today got a few corals there but also went and picked up 60lbs of live rock from someone else today also so tank got a major over hall on looks im liking it not realy what is was planning but will work good and i like the end look

Got some great looking rock goin on. Scape looks good too. Is it flush on the back wall?

I was trying to basicly wrap the overflows and keep my island arch i already had in the middle but the pieses just didnt work for that

Make sure you get some kind of flow back there.

did a tiny bit of rearranging moved the gaud ugly power head and hid it buried in the rock work on the back also added another one

well i got some new much needed upgrade on my lighting picked up a coralife 250w x2 mh light with cf actinic bulbs stilll thinking of moding the cf and converting to t5 ho not sure if i can use the same balast or if i need to upgrade ballast

well haven't updated in a while but tank is doing great loving the mh lighting seeing excellent growth with corals

curent stock list for fish is

4x bg chromis
2x chocolate clowns
1x royal dottyback
1x coral beauty
1x purple dottyback
1x sailfin tang
fish to be added yet are
1x blue hippo tang
1x algae blenny

i also have these inverts

1x very large long spine urchin
1x cleaner shrimp
many blue leg hermits

So it is turned off for now till i can replace it i dont need a fire

Ok well i took the ballast apart and put back together couldnt find a problem but also haven't heard the buzzing sound

On a side note i never put snails of any kind in my system but tonight i find a half dosen baby ones on the glass

More then likely they are Collonista Snails. Nocturnal lil hitchhiking algae eaters. [emoji1360]

well i know i said i was going to post some pics but with tappa talk not working and all it got pushed to the back

on the other hand i had some one give a house so i am moving soon and planning out how i am going to do this hopefully with as few losses as possible I am really excited about this move as i finally am getting out of the trailer

well kinda bad news move didn't go as plan ran out of time had had to do it as a suden one hit instant move suffering more or less %100 fish loss and most of my better corals are dead or dying very sad

reason for massive losses is due to water getting too cold during move and temp shock

I will be rebuilding again as $$ alows

Well here is an update now that tappatalk is working again tank is running and doing great

A friend of mine decided he didn't like salt and shut his tank down and gave me all his stock so now I'm just working on rebuilding my corals
