Amonia in quaratine tank

I purchased a small1-2" blue hippo tang and a coral beauty last tThursday. I had a quaratine setup already to go(29gal) I always keep a sponge filter in my fuge just for the quaratine tank that way all the biological filtration is already established. I just move the sponge filter to to quaratine tank a day or two before I bring my friends home.
While I checked the quarantine tank every day with all parameters normal(SG1.023,Amm0 nitrate0 nitrite0 ph8.2.) I do my display tank on the weekends. Yesterday I checked the quarantine tank and amm had risen to1 I did a 7 gal water change and added a HOB filter with carbon to the tank (it was 830 on Sun evening best I felt I could do. Today amm was .5 but still worried. Since my work day is 12-15 hours long(Iown my business) unable to do much until around 9pm tonight. Since I have watched these two fish for over 1 week at my LFS and it has been 4 days with no signs of problems,if the amm continues to increase Iwas thinking of just acclimating them to my display and letsee what happens. Good ,bad or any helpful thoughts.

I'd be a little leary of taking them out of QT early if you could possibly avoid it. You could try adding a PolyFilter to your HOB filter to help remove the ammonia. I have also used Prime (ammonia detoxifier) with good results. Of course, water changes are always helpful, but you already know that. ;)

Any ammonia is not good but .5 will probable not hart your fish
just do your water changes a Little more often and watch it close
so as it don't go up higher.

Well it has been 4 days and amm is still running.5-1. Added ammon lock by API on Monday(CAme highly recommended by my LFS) changing 5 gals of water every day. Today I removed carbon from filter thinking this was nullifing the Ammon lock. Did notice the blue tang is not eating very well. I have tried Formula1&2,enriched frozen brine shrimp,and nori. Soaked all foods in garlic or selcon. Was going to pickup some live brine shrimp on my way home tonight(early night only working 13 hours today). Any other thoughts?

Maby try to feed mysis shrimp??? My blue tang loves it. Wish I could help more but I'll keep trying to think about it.

Both my tangs LOVE mysis shrimp hippo & yellow , if not dipp some garlic with it that should help.

Quick update
Ammonia actually continued to climb. Sunday Am went to check on the quarantine tank amm was 3-4 and fish looked pail. I feel even though this tank was up and running over 6 weeks with just a HOB filter on it and I added a shrimp four weeks prior to purchasing and adding the sponge filter that this tank was starting to cycle for some reason. So I had water ready for a water change on my display tank I used this to acclimate the fish both perked up and color was improved in 1 hour. so after my water change I just added them to my display.(LFS runs some copper in their fish system just to minimize their loses so this helped in my decision) Hopefully all is good I did get 9 full days in qt with no signs of problem. My blue tang went absolutely nuts on the algae in the display tank. And is now eating very well.
