Do I go blue!?

I defintely do not like 20k, my friend had it in his tank and it was just to blue for me. Its coming around time to change my bulbs and Im wondering
if I go 14k, will I get more color but less growth?
Will the slow in growth be significant?
Will there be a major photoaclimation?

Just a few questions Im wondering and debating before I go buy.

Look at the comparisons on this site to better help you choose. I went with (2) 250w MH SE XM 10k and (2) 400w MH SE XM 20k and (2) 60" 110w VHO URI on my tank. Stay away from the XM 15k, I have also tried the Geismann 14K they are not that blue to me very yellow IMO.

What bulbs will you be switching from?

Personally I'm dedicated to the 6500K 'sakis for daylights... although still trying to decide on what halides to use for actinic lighting, replacing PC lamps every 6 months gets old and expensive.

Im using the Coral Life 10ks that currently came with the Coral Life system. The atinics still dont have to replaced right? Its only been one year.

There are a lot of factors to be considered for the actual useable life of PC's.

For me as soon as they start showing signs of a grey dusting in the tube, out they go... or else a cyano bloom would follow... just worked out to be around 6-7 months for us. Then again they weren't in the most friendly environment either... 6x65w PC's trapped in a canopy with 3x400w halides probably cooked them a little prematurely.

I replaced my PCs after 9 months... one bulb quit, and I went ahead and replaced the other at the same time.
