I'm ruining a dual Hamilton Ballast with 2 175 watt 10K and as Thea or the original
mh for me dose everyone thank i shod stay with them or go to something Else.
I also run 2*110 watt VHO one 10k and one super actinic.
I have been satisfied with the lighting but always open for improvement

IMO, Hamilton is a great brand, but I am aware of some that have tried the XM's with equal or greater satisfaction... none I'm aware of regret their decisions to try the XM's and seem to continue to use the XM's for an "equaled" satisfaction for a lower cost. I will remain loyal to the SE XM's and will begin to use the XDE when they are able to improve their design... until then, it's AB, BLV, Hamilton, or Ushio for the DE bulbs. BTW, if you're gonna change types of bulbs, make sure your ballast will fire them properly.

Yes but from all the people that see my tanks the first thing they say is how well my sps grow.

The only thing I think (forgive me if I'm wrong) should be mentioned is that Bugme uses no act supplimentation...this could be a cause for someone who intends to run a higher kelvin temp lighting with act supplimentation(too blue/purple) to either discontinue their current usage of the act supplimentation or replace the VHO/PC supplimentation lighting with a lower kelvin rated bulb(10k, etc.). Just a suggestion and my 2 cents.

Me too, only for the dusk to dawn, I have PC's and am currently adding a 250 watt 20k AB DE to my current 2 175 watt 10k XM's... The AB will run only up to 4 hours per day(I will slowly accliment to that point) to add to the high-noon effect and hopefully increase the desired color potential in my sps corals... I've heard it said time and time before..."there's no such thing as too much light..." ... now it's time to test that theory(over 800 watts of light over a 55 gl...550 of those from MH).

If you can keep the temp right i agree most SPS will do great under as much light as
you can give them. But if a mix tank you can run into a problem with some
softies.
personnel i wont to step up to the 250 mh one of thees days. But will Waite
till i can get a little bigger tank looking for a used 75 or 90 to replace the 55
I just mist a 75 bow front that sold for $100. with stand and Hood a few
days ago. Day late $ short
