new coral!!

got a new frag today (mah g/f is oh so nice!). She bought it b/c she liked it. At least she clears is with me before purchasing.

got a hammer coral, 3 hand frag. Its started to come back out a little bit after being ****ed off from the move from the LFS.

any special care/feeding needed for these? I was told moderate flow and go0d feedings (cyclopeeze and oyster eggs) Also, how do i feed it? Is it a filter feeder or do i need to target feed it?

lucky you! I like Hammers, strange though, everyone says to feed them but we never have actualy target fed any of our corals. just let them catch what ever we fed the tank. But if your going to target feed I would say a baster and gently. They like a moderate flow but not blown over! lol
we have a frogspawn and they like movement but not to much.
enjoy they are nice corals!

I dont really target feed much either.

The only coral I target feed is my 1 trumpet, he's sooooo cool and im tryin to powerfeed it so he grows another polyp or whatever.
Ive heard their slow growers and im not exactly sure how it grows another polyp or head or whatever, but im so curious about it, I wanna see it in action!

I feed my torch coral & frog spawn small pieces of fish, the size of the mouth of the head. I feed all the heads in the colony once every two weeks. I add marine plankton to the tank 2 x per week, 1/2 hour after lights out. They grab onto the fish like Anemones!

we tried feeding our bubble coral fresh clam (I slaved over a hot stove to open, scoop out mash up and served with a nice pasta hehe) more than once and he plain spit it out every time.. you know how depressing it is to go through all that and have him just . well. sniff sniff.. it's just so cruel ..sniff sniff..to know my coral.. sniff sniff.. hates my cooking too!!!!
So now I make him take me out! hehehehe....

I haven't fed my hammer or frogspawn directly yet, but I swear the frogspawn has grown a little bit. They both catch whatever comes their way during feeding time. I have seen them both snag a piece of mysis and actually close up on it like my anemone...
