Hello all
i have a problem with my QT tank. I cannot seem to keep the ph up.
I do a partial water change and after a day or two it begins to drop. Within 5 days it is off the scale. QT tank is a 29 gallon, bare bottom, hang on back filter and sponge filter which normally reside in the fuge of my display to keep it alive. I have also thought of just buying a couple of chromis to keep in the QT tank to keep everything going. BAck to my original problem is the ph due to nothing in there to buffer or could something else be amiss. How about not enough dissolved O2? I only ask because it looks like my display got ick this week and I think I will have to treat the whole system.

Try either pro buffer or fill a filter sock with crushed coral and place it in an area with flow. If you go the CC route just make sure you rinse it under FW every few days to ensure it dies not become a nitrate factory.
