We came home from a nice dinner out to discover that we had cooked shrimp and chromis in our 24G nano tank! The Pink Barred Goby was at the body of the shrimp about to dine but scooted into his tunnel when we approached so we know that he's alright for now. So the population is now 1 pink barred goby and a pistol shrimp (I hope).
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! That shrimp was my lil buddy! (The chromis was a bully though). We THINK that the heater went haywire because the water was over 85 degrees. I'm hoping the pistol shrimp survived. He and the goby live underground so maybe it stayed cool enough for them. I did pH, ammonia, and a nitrate test and all were in the perfect range. :WHY:
But I'm worried that we changed the water temp too much too quickly because we did a 20% water change just in case. The temp is now 78 degrees. The mushroom coral and the fan worm seem to be just fine too.
So........now I"m looking for some fish to put into the nano that will get along with the goby and pistol shrimp. I don't want anything that will get over 3 or 4". It's a reef tank first stocked a year ago...... anybody got any suggestions?
I don't know whether to be really upset or grateful!?!?! (As I said the chromis was a bully!)
