I have some of the Seachem carbon... I'll have to test it and see what happens!

I use it from time to time, but not consistently. I probably should though.

I always run a HOB filter with carbon just in case. I want that back up in case I overfeed, something dies, or whatever else, but I converted from fw to sw so carbon is just something that I beleive in. I would have some on hand though in case something goes haywire. IMHO that is.

Found out my phosphate test kit expired... my LFS charges $5 for them to test the sample and around $20 bucks for a test kit. If I end up buying another kit, I'll test and post the results here.

My LFS charges 50 cents per test, not for a full work up but per reagent that they use!!

we do free tests, but if we didn't people wouldn't be in the hobby any more...

"my fish died"

"how is your water"

"clear"

"have you tested it?"

"..."

"we can test if for you"

"how much"

"insert amont here"

"oh thats okay, i'll just take 14 fish home today, it will be fine"

"..."

some people are really good about understanding water chemisty others... well, they hurt my head

When I worked at the pet store, when I asked about the water and they said it was clear I said "so is vodka but fish won't live in it" conversation over, water tested.
