I am going to be sending out some frags soon and am curious on everyones practices on safe shipping etc.

1 who do you use to ship your corals and what method?
2 where do i get heat packs and the right kinds of boxes and bags?
3 what do i need to do to ensure a good survival rate?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greg, as far as heat packs I just go to like a sporting good store and buy them there they are cheap and last approx 8 hours. with the weather nice you should be allright. I get my boxes from my wifes work. I triple bag mine and then wrap in news paper and I scored some 1/8 inch foam form an uphoulstrey shop and insulate the stuff in that and works pretty good.
I either go through DHL or Fed Ex for shipping

From where to where?
What kinds of frags specifically?
Shipping overnight is usually best.

from oregon to as far east as south dakota. most are closer.
leathers, shrooms, possibly an anemone.

overnight shipping is what i will be doing, i was just curious where to get the shipping supplies mostly.

I would suggest you get one of those hard coolers that people use to hold a lunch. You can place the corals in there with icepacks now (heat packs in the winter), tape it shut and drop it off at FedEx. They can actually carry it by the handle, and since they are so rugged they won't get damaged by poor handling.

Other options include styrofoam lined boxes, using thermoses, etc.

isn't that expensive, the cooler isn't cheap... so i get a free cooler from you when i get a frag?

Well, it works out better if you are involved in a trade, as your own cooler comes back safely. ;)
