Where do I start??? We moved into our house Tuesday and all seemed well. The next day, I cut the hole into my wall for the picture frame effect I want to see the tank from the family room downstairs. That went well, except for being a plaster/lathe wall and some of the edges chipped of larger pieces than I wanted and the dust was fierce(still sneezing). I then built the frame for the tank in the washroom and all, again seemed well. I had an electrician buddy of mine come over and give me some pointers on what I should do with my electrical needs and he said things were fine as they are... just to split the usage between to breakers(a 20 and a 15amp) that happen to be in the same room. So, bonus! Then, another buddy was kind enough to make a run down to help pick up my new 120. Well, we brought it in the house and I put it up on the stand. So far so good. Then I decided that I didn't like how the braces were placed and tried to modify... BAD NEWS!!! I had the tank filled Friday morning. That was cool and things were still going as planned. Then, that afternoon, I added 2 5 gl buckets of oolitic sand and some of by live rock, put my sump(28 gl rubbermaid) and refugium(55 gl tank) in place under the stand and started the system up to circulate and left to take care of some arrends. Guess what I returned home to find(about a half hour later)... about 70 gallons of water down through my wall, over the electrical socket and phone jack, soaked carpet and a large puddle in my wash room. I about cried... the tank had a crack that went from the bottom corner in the front to the top center. I called a buddy that owns a LFS and he happened to have a 120 that he gave me a sweet deal on and stayed an hour late to make sure I got it( I was able to seal the crack for a short time using a piece of acrylic wrapped in a plastic bag). So, I put all of the live rock, coral and critters back into a holding bin with a heater and a pump. I got back, emptied the rest of the sand, put the water I was able to save back in the barrels and pulled down the broken 120 and replaced it with the newer 120. I then went back down and got enough water to fill the system back up, plumbed in the new 120 and it's flowing as it should. I guess the stress became too much because everything died( I think the sea cucumber nuked it all). Man, it's been hectic, but now, hopefully things will settle down and over the next few days I'll be adding my auto-top off, kalk reactor, calcium reactor, ozone, and finally the lighting.

Just to verify things just a bit... he didn't almost cry. I am sure that when he called me while I was on my way home, his sniffles were not just the dust! Starting all over now.. so frag donations would be appreciated ;)

HOLY COW!!! That would be very bad. Is there much damage to the house other than outlets and the one wall? Sorry about your losses, if i had anything to share, i would.

Jay, Chels, I will donate a few small frags from the nano if you send a paid shipping label from 44705. I am really straped right now but can help with a frag or two.

Sure "THE DUST" it's an imaginary feeling that exists every time a tank breaks!!!

You guys are all great!! My comment about donations was just for fun - I didn't really mean that we expected hand outs. Thanks so much!

I am rather ticked at the both of you... Did you really not know that CR is home to THE kindest, most generous people on the WWW??? ;)

OF COURSE we'd love to help!!!

For my part -
I've had an "issue" lately... (been meaning to post, but it will be a long one)...

If everything turns out - I should be able to donate some stuff - mainly softies & LPS (most of my SPS are still too small for me to feel confident fragging them), though I have/had a lovely plating monti ready for a minor fragging, but I'm not sure if it will make it. :(

PLEASE keep us posted on, well, everything! :)

The fires are too far away from us personally. We are just about an hour south of Idaho. The fires are south of us. It's sad though, all the people leaving their homes and not knowing if they will get to go back or not.
Thanks for the concern, George!
What great friends!!

Will do. The water has cleared a lot! I went to take a look at it this morning while checking on a few things and it really has cleared up. The LR and sand looks like a nuked desert wasteland though.

I have some red/maro0n fuzzy shro0ms that keep multiplying worse than rabbits. Id be willing to frag 2 or 3 on a piece of rock and send em your way if you wanted some shro0ms.

I'm good for now... I've added 5 damsels(last Friday) and all are alert and all over the tank. There is some brown algae on the live rock, but nothing too bad. I have some snails on order now. I hope to begin adding some corals(slowly) over the next few months. Thanks all!
