Has anyone been able to duplicate the mazzi injector style venturi design? Heating and pinching off pvc works, but it think it could perform better, tried heating and rolling it out to try to narrow it down and still no joy, sched 40 is just too thick walled (all I did was suceed in burning my hands), going to pick up a couple of sched 20 pvc lengths and see if I can do it that way, next will be a trip through the acrylic shop down in town, think they are waiting for me to stop by so they can pay their light bill again :-)

I have nothing against the commercial ones, they patented a very old but simple design and are fairly credited for thier patent, but I can't bring myself to paying $50+ for a piece of injection molded plastic. Of course spending 4-5 times the purchase price of one to DIY it pretty works out about right in my mind. There has to be an easy way to do it, just haven't found the right material to make the transition smooth enough for maximum performance.

Considered trying to carve one out of a solid chunk of acrylic with a dremel tool.... that would either work or splatter a lot of blood, most likely the latter.
A fella I know has a CNC router.....might be time to put him to work

Any other thoughts?

They are pretty much just a venturi but with a deffierent contour. Got several of them in our spa, they are what intrudces air into the water flow and give that cool bubbling effect, very efficient and able to really pull a lot of air compared to the volume of water flow. Angel would kick pound me to mud if I was to 'borrow' one to build a skimmer around.

Maybe you find a dead spa somewhere and savage one. I am guessing they are part of the plumbing set up so they are probably fairly simple to cut away. Maybe call the spa store and see if they have a junk pile.
