This morning when I checked on my fish tank; my yellow tang was dead. Other fish had been picking at its eyes. I have a 58 gallon tank with numerous coral, 2 oscellaris; green chromis; baby blue tang that is about the size of my large oscellaris. My water parameters are fine. The tang had been eating fine. It seemed to be slower to get to the food than the other fish the last mth. The other fish were faster and it waited till the fishfood sunk so it had more room to get it. It had no spots on it. It almost seemed that the fish tank was too small for it and it could not swim like it wanted to. Could that be the reason? It was about 3.5 inches in diameter. I have had it since i started my tank over 3 years ago. I am sad

What are the physical dimensions of the tank? Sorry these days the volume means next to nothing as far as guessing tank sizes.... Tangs do prefer a lot of swimming room, I often wonder what our sailfin thinks of the 180g tank... she's now over 6" long I'd guess and zips from one end to the other..

Had the tang been acting any different lately?? If you have had it for 3 years, it might have just been old age.

I have a 58 gallon tank. How long do tangs live? I wonder if the tank was too small and couldn't hide at nite. Could the tiny blue tang pick on it?

I don't know that I would keep anything but a juv. tang in that sized tank. 36" just isn't enough room for them to get up any speed. They love zipping from end to end.
